Two Giuliani Associates Who Helped Him on Ukraine Arrested on Campaign-Finance Charges
Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman are expected to appear in federal court in Virginia later on Thursday

WASHINGTON—Two Soviet-born donors to a pro- Trump fundraising committee who helped Rudy Giuliani’s efforts to investigate Democrat Joe Biden were arrested late Wednesday on criminal charges of violating campaign finance rules and are expected to appear in court on Thursday, according to people familiar with the matter.

Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman, two Florida businessmen, have been under investigation by the U.S. attorney’s office in Manhattan, and are expected to appear in federal court in Virginia later on Thursday, the people said. Both men were born in former Soviet republics.

Mr. Giuliani, President Trump’s private lawyer, identified the two men in May as his clients. Both men have donated to Republican campaigns including Mr. Trump’s, and in May 2018 gave $325,000 to the primary pro-Trump super PAC, America First Action, through an LLC called Global Energy Producers, according to Federal Election Commission records.

The exact nature of the charges couldn’t immediately be determined.

They were arrested at Dulles Airport last night...charged with some sort of political donation to Trump breaking campaign finance rules...per Fox

Actually, the story says it’s a Manhattan US Attorney’s office, which would be SDNY, headed by Geoffrey Berman. He’s a Trump donor and appointee, along with being a former Giuliani law partner.

Perhaps you can explain why this double standard is being implemented by a Trump appointee, who was personally interviewed to replace Barhara. US Attorney Geoffrey Berman signed the indictment. You can read it here.....

OK, I'll buy that. And knowing nothing about the particulars here I fully realize these two just might be desperate criminals.

But I'll wager they actually violated another one of those codes everyone violates but no one is ever criminally charged for ala Dinesh D'Souza. No one denies D'Souza violated some law or other. And if the law is on the books there's not much Berman could do but sign off on it.

Just more of the gross double standard prevalent these days.
