CBP Chief Mark Morgan: 1 Million Enforcement Actions on Border in FY 2019 – 88 Percent Higher Than Last Year

(CNSNews.com) – Arrivals of migrant families on the border in 2019 more than tripled compared to any previous fiscal year on record, acting Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Mark Morgan announced Tuesday.

During a White House press conference, Morgan outlined the strides his department has made in apprehending illegal immigrants as well as the growing number of family units trying to cross the border.

“This past fiscal year, CBP has faced unprecedented and staggering levels of illegal crossings. While the comprehensive numbers will be forthcoming with respect to all the numbers and all the statistics for 2019, CBP’s enforcement actions on our southwest border totaled nearly 1 million in fiscal year 2019. This is a staggering 88 percent higher than the number of enforcement actions in 2018 – 88 percent higher,” he said.
