Graham calls Trump move in Syria 'a disaster in the making'
By Chris Mills Rodrigo - 10/07/19 08:53 AM EDT

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), a key ally of President Trump, on Monday slammed the administration's move to pull out of northern Syria ahead of a Turkish invasion.

"I don’t know all the details regarding President Trump’s decision in northern Syria. In process of setting up phone call with Secretary Pompeo," the South Carolina lawmaker tweeted. "If press reports are accurate this is a disaster in the making."

"Ensures ISIS comeback. Forces Kurds to align with Assad and Iran. Destroys Turkey’s relationship with U.S. Congress. Will be a stain on America’s honor for abandoning the Kurds."

“What a disaster,” Brian Kilmeade fumed on Fox & Friends. “The president’s statement, through Stephanie Grisham, is that we’ve defeated the caliphate, the caliphate’s destroyed — we would not have done that without the Kurds, who did all of our fighting.”

It's not an entirely cut and dry situation. The YPG is an arm of the PKK Party, which has been designated as a terrorist organization by the US government, since 1997.

He is right.

There are rumblings that Turkey is getting ready to take action against the Kurds. Our former allies.

Our former allies.

OK, but the Soviets were our former allies, in WWII. In the late 70s, the PKK was formed to establish an independent communist Kurdish state. Sometimes, allies in a war, aren’t always true friends.

Trump says there's only about 50 (not 1,000) US military there.  Much ado about nada damned thing, as usual, if so.   *****rollingeyes*****

Hey Senator ... if the Kurds attack Ankara,  do we defend our NATO ally or the Kurds?

Trump says..... *****rollingeyes*****

Wake me up when he doesn't say anything. More importantly throw a HUGE party when he actually tells the truth.

Seriously, this man has a very tenuous relationship with the truth and always has. Hell even when he tells the truth or a partial truth, he can't help but embellish it with lies.

We are talking about a person who only about a month ago trotted out a hurricane forecast map with the a projected path hand drawn in with a sharpie because he couldn't admit he made a simple (and forgivable if he'd only admitted it at the time) misstatement about Alabama being in the path. And then he kept doubling down on it until some poor shlub at the NWB in Alabama who dared tweet, "no, Alabama is not in the hurricane's path" got thrown under the Trump Bus.

I wouldn't doubt that after the fall out from this, Trump tries to blame someone else for this decision.

Rick Perry is already bruised from being run over by the Trump Buss after being thrown under it, being blamed for the Ukraine phone call.

So who's up on deck to take the fall for this?

Blah blah blah .... talk to the orange hand.

Point frickin IS.... if true that there is only 50 effing military folks there to "pull out", it's no damned big deal.  Or did you deliberately miss that rather glaring point.

And stop forcing me to defend his orange highness, dammit.   9999hair out0000

Are you talking about the guys that refused to let us use Incirlik, during the WOT and operations against ISIS? How about the guys that opposed Iranian oil sanctions and promised to defy them?

Dozens of U.S. special-operations forces began moving away from the border between Syria and Turkey on Monday, repositioning within the country, but not withdrawing for now, U.S. defense officials said.

There were no further U.S. troop movements, and U.S. officials played down prospects for any wholesale withdrawal of the roughly 1,000 U.S. troops from Syria. A senior administration official said that the U.S. had no plans to leave Syria and had moved about 100 troops to other parts of the country as a precautionary measure.

“We don’t want those [U.S.] troops to be there and thus send a signal that they are supporting the [Turkish] operation, nor do we want them to be there and look like we may be trying to stop the Turks from moving in,” the official said. “So therefore the best thing is just to get some troops out of the way.”

The U.S. steadily has held talks with Ankara to try to resolve its concerns along its border with Syria, but had grown concerned recently that Turkey would grow impatient with the Kurdish presence there and mount an offensive.

In response to Mr. Erdogan’s call for an incursion, the White House issued a late-night statement saying U.S. troops would leave and allow Turkey to assume control over the area, where Kurds are holding around 12,000 Islamic State fighters and about 58,000 family members in prisons and camps.

I'm.... pretty sure that I saw/witnessed Trump say, on TV, that there was only about 50 US troops there in a "small area".  (so confused)

Is he:  A: correct and others are wrong or lying; B: misinformed and others are right; C:  lying; D: a victim of having been lied to.

Inquiring minds want to know.

I think you know the answer and it rhymes with "crying" as in Trump is "lying". Although he could be misinformed as in he never listens to anyone. And being "misinformed" gives him the perfect cover to throw someone under the Trump Bus when TSHTF.

Why would he lie about something so easily proven a lie?  He's not stupid.  He has other character flaws, but lack of intelligence isn't one of them.

Bottom line.... this whole issue is a convoluted mess.   What should be isn't and what shouldn't be is.   I smell the Democrats' (specifically Obama & Co.) influence here.

Tucker's opening is, IMO, pretty darn good.  But don't miss his first guest, Ret. Col Douglas MacGregor.  He gives an explanation for what's happening the MSM won't appreciate.   happy77

Here's tonight's segment on Tucker Carlson in a video posted by @Right_in_Virginia which puts much of this ado about nothing in perspective.

Perhaps he think everyone else is stupid.  More likely he doesn't care and he knows his supports don't care either.  IMO you gotta ask "Who are you going to believe, The President of the United States of America or...?"
I always pick "or."

IF it were only 50, I don't think we would be hearing this kind of reaction from Graham and others.  So Trump feels that he knows better than those who have been dealing with and assessing the situation long before he became President?  I doubt this idea came to him on his own and he is being ill-advised.
Romans 12:16-21

He lies blatantly on the record all the time about every sort of stupid damn thing.
