Sen. Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign has canceled all appearances and events until further notice following a procedure for an artery blockage.

In a statement Wednesday, the senator’s advisor Jeff Weaver said Sanders “experienced some chest discomfort” during a Tuesday event. Testing found a “blockage in one artery,” and Sanders had two stents inserted, he said.

“Sen. Sanders is conversing and in good spirits. He will be resting up over the next few days,” Weaver said. “We are canceling his events and appearances until further notice, and we will continue to provide appropriate updates.”

Bernie Sanders experienced chest discomfort at a campaign event on Tuesday evening and received two stents after the discovery of blockage in one artery, his campaign said.

“During a campaign event yesterday evening, Sen. Sanders experienced some chest discomfort. Following medical evaluation and testing he was found to have a blockage in one artery and two stents were successfully inserted. Sen. Sanders is conversing and in good spirits. He will be resting up over the next few days. We are canceling his events and appearances until further notice, and we will continue to provide appropriate updates,” Sanders senior adviser Jeff Weaver said in a statement on Wednesday.

The 78-year-old Vermont senator is the oldest presidential primary candidate seeking the Democratic nomination.

In the long term - if he has such prospects - this won't be disabling. But at his age recovering from the whole process will not be quick, and he will have to weigh the risks of the stress of a, potentially, 13-month-long campaign.

You think that single payer government healthcare will pay for stents for a 78 year old? I don't. Going by the standards in Canada and the UK where they consider one's age before allowing procedures, this will be our future under government-run health care.

Of course, our rulers won't be subject to the death sentence of government healthcare- they exempt themselves from all the laws that put on us.

I thought Biden would be at least somewhat effective in undermining Warren's credibility before he faded out of the picture, but so far he hasn't laid a glove on her (or even on her granddaughters for that matter).
