Ryan seems to reside among a professional class of Republicans who value institutional affiliations and privileges over either philosophy or ideology. It was disappointing for many of us to discover this about him, since he once appeared to possess leadership potential, which involves a level of risk-taking and taking stands on issues that Professional Class Republicans avoid like the plague.
Instead and sadly, Mr. Ryan now seeks the approval of people who do not merely wish to see the GOP merely languish in perpetual minority status (as I suspect Ryan and his ilk largely and secretly desire) but those who wish to obliterate all effective opposition by whatever means necessary.
As for FOX News, I think their best value proposition is to be truly "fair and balanced", meaning that they ought not suck up to Trump simply because the rest of the media are no longer media at all, but propagandists for the Democrat party.
