...Guyger wasn't the only South Side Flats resident to go to the wrong apartment or floor. Her attorneys have tried to show it's a common occurrence at the apartments just south of downtown Dallas — particularly for residents on the third and fourth floors, where Guyger and Jean lived.

Ranger David Armstrong, the lead investigator on the case, testified that even he had trouble knowing which floor he was on while investigating the shooting last year.

"There were no clear obvious signs showing what level you were on," he testified earlier in the week when questioned by Robert Rogers, one of Guyger's attorneys.

Armstrong told the jury that he led a team that interviewed 297 of the 349 residents at the South Side Flats, and 46 of them had walked to the wrong floor and put their key in the door. Of those residents, 38 of them were from the third and fourth floors.

Some residents testified in court that they've gone to the wrong apartment. Marc Lipscomb told the jury Friday about a time he entered the wrong apartment after taking his dog for a walk. He didn't realize the apartment wasn't his until he saw a woman sitting on a couch in her living room.,,,

Interesting...I am even more inclined to believe her....her behavior after the shooting was callous but doesn't deserve a ten year sentence.

Judge Tammy Kemp gives Amber Guyger her personal Bible

“This is your job,” the judge said, opening the book. The judge mentioned John 3:16, saying this will strengthen her. Guyger nodded her head.

The Jury must have known something we don't, to ascribe malice aforethought.  They concluded she had murder on her mind before even opening the door.

I am concerned about what they didn't know, what information was withheld from them, like the  lead homicide investigator testimony.

Tragic Amber Guyger Case Concludes With a Ray of Hope

If Botham Jean was anything like his brother then the media understated his character & decency. Why did this have to happen to him.

Breaking into someone home and then shooting them dead is murder, not negligent homicide.

@jpsb

She didn't break into anywhere. The door was unlocked. Since she THOUGHT it was her apartment and she had locked it when she left home,she drew her gun as she entered. She shot when she saw this large man in what she THOUGHT was her apartment coming at her in an aggressive manner

One stupid mistake after another lead to two VERY serious mistakes that led to one innocent young woman going to prison and one innocent young man going to the graveyard

The biggest mistake was  his,though He looked up to see a cop in uniform and holding a gun coming into his apartment,so he charged at her.

Was The Door Locked Or Unlocked? Dallas Police Officer Who Shot Botham Jean Reportedly Changed Her Story

https://newsone.com/3825940/botham-shem-jean-amy-guyger-changing-story/

Quote
Activist Shaun King pointed out on Twitter that an early report said the door was not unlocked, writing, “A Dallas police officer, who spoke with NBC 5 under the condition of anonymity, said Guyger was assigned to the department’s elite Crime Response Team and had just finished a 14-hour shift serving warrants in high-crime areas. When she arrived home, she took the elevator to a floor that was not hers. She then went to what she thought was her door, put the key in and struggled with the lock. Guyger then put down several things she was holding and continued to fight with the key when the resident swung open the door and startled her. Guyger believed Jean, who was wearing only underwear, was an intruder and shot him with her service weapon. It wasn’t until police and rescue units began arriving that she realized she was not at her apartment. Once realizing her deadly mistake, she became emotional and fully cooperated with officers, including offering to provide blood samples.”

Now, the narrative is that the door was unlocked.

The only problem I have with this is that the 911 call was played over and over. She keeps saying on the call that she thought it was her apartment. So that would indicate the error was discovered before emergency responders arrived. The coroners report also indicated a downward projection of the bullet which would not be consistent with a shot at someone standing in front of her.

The door had to be unlocked.  Otherwise how did she get in?

...Guyger's keys were in Jean's door when the first officers arrived. The doors at the apartments take an electronic lock, which turns like a normal key.

Jean hadn't locked his door when he returned home from running an errand. The door wasn't fully closed and latched the night of the shooting....

That was one of the most moving things I have seen in a long, long time. It made me cry and still does. It also reminds me that there are still some very decent people in this crazy world. IMHO it was a blessing for both. He was able to forgive...she was able to accept that forgiveness.

I would like to believe that I had that inner grace...but I'm not sure and hope I never have to find out.

The judge also hugged all parties involved including Guyger (and also gave her a Bible). So now the judge is under fire for showing favoritism. Not that it matters, but she is black.

@berdie

It matters. There won't be riots because of it.

I with all of you on the hugs all around. Hugging someone beats the hell out of hating them and dealing with the health and emotional  issues that causes.

Hating someone only harms the hater unless they take it to the point where they make it physical,and then it hurts them twice.
