“Chairman Nadler has said publicly he is ‘impeaching the president – right now,’ and has clearly initiated the impeachment process, in direct violation of the law.”

House Democrats are moving forward on efforts to impeach President Donald Trump, and Republicans in Congress are fighting back by calling for the removal of a leading Democrat from the House Judiciary Committee.

On Tuesday, Congressman Lance Gooden, a freshman Republican from East Texas, filed a resolution to remove New York Democrat Jerry Nadler as chairman of the House Judiciary Committee over alleged violations of the law.

“The Judiciary Committee must receive authorization to begin impeachment proceedings, yet the full House denied him this authorization in July by overwhelmingly rejecting House Resolution 498,” said Gooden in a statement. “Despite this, Chairman Nadler has said publicly he is ‘impeaching the president – right now,’ and has clearly initiated the impeachment process, in direct violation of the law.”
