The mysterious “whistleblower” case now looks like a coordinated Democrat effort to block any investigation of presidential candidate Joe Biden for corrupt pressure on Ukraine to drop the investigation of Burisma, an energy company operating in the country, on which his son Hunter Biden was a board member.

In March 2016, then Vice-President Joe Biden warned Ukraine that $1 billion in loan guarantees would be withheld by the U.S. unless they replaced Viktor Shokin, the prosecutor general who was investigating Hunter Biden.  Ukraine did remove Shokin, and the prosecution was dropped.  It looks like a clear case of a quid-pro-quo.

However, as things are starting to shake out, the current obfuscation to protect Joe Biden is President Trump asking Ukraine’s new president Volodymyr Zelensky to take another look at the issues surrounding the former government’s decision to fire the Ukrainian prosecutor.  This is presumably the call concerning to the whistleblower.  To wit, democrats see this as Trump asking Ukraine to interfere in the 2020 election....

No, I don't think so.  The dems created a "crime" to investigate; the Biden actions appear to be a crime committed by Biden.

And as usual.... the DemocRats are accusing others (Trump, always) of doing exactly what they have done .... and are still in the process of doing.   Their ongoing endless "investigations" of all things Trump is, in fact, interfering in the 2020 election by trying to taint a sitting president running for re-election.

It’s still a mystery exactly what provoked an intelligence officer to file a whistleblower complaint against Donald Trump. So far, it’s been reported that it involves a foreign leader, believed to be from Ukraine, and the president of the United States issuing some form of “promise.” The complaint is being withheld from Congress by the acting director of national intelligence. It’s all very shady but, don’t worry, because President Trump says it’s nothing to worry about. He tweeted Friday morning saying: “They think I may have had a ‘dicey’ conversation with a certain foreign leader based on a ‘highly partisan’ whistleblower's statement. Strange that with so many other people hearing or knowing of the perfectly fine and respectful conversation, that they would not have also come forward. Do you know the reason why they did not? Because there was nothing said wrong, it was pitch perfect!”

Well, at least they’ll have a lot to talk about. President Trump will meet with the president of Ukraine next week as the storm surrounding a whistleblower complaint about Trump’s communications with a foreign leader keeps growing. It’s been reported that the mysterious complaint filed by an intelligence official involves a “promise” made to a foreign leader by Trump, and that the allegation is specifically focused on Ukraine. Trump will meet President Volodymyr Zelensky when both leaders attend the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The Ukrainian president's office confirmed in a statement: “The Head of State will hold a series of bilateral meetings with foreign leaders in New York, in particular with President of the United States Donald Trump.”

Yep. If there is even slight truth to the complaint - somebody reported that Trump said something, even if the something was innocuous or appropriate - it reveals that hostile insiders are spying on Trump.

We have no idea who the whistleblower is and if they are partisan, or not. We do know the identity of the IG and he thought it was important enough to warrant notifying those in Congress, responsible for intelligence oversight. The recently appointed DNI blocked it, but he’s not partisan? If there’s nothing to it, let Congress be notified, and let the Democrats overreach, once again.

President Trump in a July phone call repeatedly pressured the president of Ukraine to investigate Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden ’s son, urging Volodymyr Zelensky about eight times to work with Rudy Giuliani, his personal lawyer, on a probe, according to people familiar with the matter.

“He told him that he should work with [Mr. Giuliani] on Biden, and that people in Washington wanted to know” whether allegations were true or not, one of the people said. Mr. Trump didn’t mention a provision of foreign aid to Ukraine on the call, said this person, who didn’t believe Mr. Trump offered the Ukrainian president any quid-pro-quo for his cooperation on an investigation.

Mr. Giuliani in June and August met with top Ukrainian officials about the prospect of an investigation, he said in an interview. The Trump lawyer has suggested Mr. Biden as vice president worked to shield from investigation a Ukrainian gas company with ties to his son, Hunter Biden. A Ukrainian official earlier this year said he had no evidence of wrongdoing by Mr. Biden or his son.

After the July call between the two presidents, the Ukrainian government said Mr. Trump had congratulated the new president on his election and expressed hope that his government would push ahead with investigations and corruption probes that had stymied relations between the two countries.

The White House declined to comment. The Biden campaign didn’t respond to a request for comment. Last week, a Biden campaign spokesman said of Mr. Giuliani’s efforts to pressure Ukraine: “This is beneath us as Americans.”

Mr. Trump on Friday defended his July call with Mr. Zelensky as “totally appropriate” but declined to say whether he had asked the Ukrainian leader to investigate Mr. Biden, a former U.S. vice president. “It doesn’t matter what I discussed,” he said.

At the same time, he reiterated his call for an investigation into Mr. Biden’s effort as vice president to oust Ukraine’s prosecutor general. “Somebody ought to look into that," he told reporters.

A senior adviser to Ukraine’s interior minister said the country is prepared to investigate Joe Biden’s son Hunter, but only if there is a formal request from President Trump.

“As soon as there is an official request," Ukraine will look into the matter, but “currently there is no open investigation,” Anton Geraschenko told the Daily Beast.

Natural gas firm Burisma Holdings began employing Hunter Biden as a board member in 2014, when Joe Biden was vice president. The elder Biden threatened to withhold $1 billion in U.S. loan guarantees if Ukraine did not fire its top prosecutor, who had been accused of corruption and had been investigating the oligarch who owned the energy company, raising concerns about a possible conflict of interest.

“Clearly, Trump is now looking for kompromat to discredit his opponent Biden, to take revenge for his friend Paul Manafort, who is serving seven years in prison,” said Geraschenko, using the Russian term for blackmail.

“We do not investigate Biden in Ukraine, since we have not received a single official request to do so,” he said.

Who wasn’t? We just recently found out that Israel had planted stingray devices around DC, to pick up phone traffic. A secure line is only as good as both parties. You have to believe other entities were listening on the Ukraine end. Often times, we intercept what other people are intercepting.

I know you don't agree... but I find it very difficult to believe that Trump would be that stupid.  Eight times?  Knowing the call is being recorded?   Nah.   It's probably about as valid an accusation as the Russia collusion hoax was.
