House reaches deal on Continuing Resolution, vote expected Thursday
By Niv Elis - 09/18/19 06:25 PM EDT

The House is expected to file a Continuing Resolution Wednesday evening to prevent a government shutdown until November 21, The Hill has learned.

A vote on the House floor is expected Thursday.

House Democrats unexpectedly pulled the bill from rules consideration on Tuesday night over disagreements with Republicans over several issues, including how the extension dealt with health care and aid to farmers affected by the trade war with China.

Negotiations continued Wednesday with Senate Republicans in hopes of striking a deal before the House vote, which would allow the Senate to take up the bill as is.

The Senate is struggling to pass its own versions of spending bills ahead of the start of the new fiscal year on October 1.

Sorry @mystery-ak I didn't see this.  I just posted.  You can delete mine.

I say no to a CR.  No stopgap.  This really is incredible.  They don't need more time.  If the threat of shutdown is there they will have to come to the table.  And it doesn't look like they are funding the wall.  Even the money that Trump diverted isn't enough for 20 miles of fencing.  They axed the project.  So I am not sure what the money they want to replace in the military funding is.

The stopgap would give Republicans and Democrats time to work out differences on the larger measures.

AG William Barr: "I'm recused from that matter because one of the law firms that represented Epstein long ago was a firm that I subsequently joined for a period of time."

Alexander Acosta Labor Secretary resigned under pressure concerning his "sweetheart deal" with Jeffrey Epstein.  He was under consideration for AG after Sessions was removed, but was forced to resign instead.
