John Bolton, President Donald Trump’s fired national security adviser, harshly criticized Trump’s foreign policy on Wednesday at a private lunch, saying inviting the Taliban to Camp David sent a “terrible signal” and that it was “disrespectful” to the victims of 9/11 because the Taliban had harbored al Qaeda.

Bolton also said that any negotiations with North Korea and Iran were “doomed to failure,” according to two attendees.

All the North Koreans and Iranians want to do is negotiate for relief from sanctions to support their economies, said Bolton, who was speaking before guests invited by the Gatestone Institute, a conservative think tank.

Good, he speaks.

Keen observations.

He is probably correct on all in that excerpt.

I will look at the Gatestone Institute website and see if they have more.
.
He' pretty important to one of those type of organizations, probably Gatestone, per past contacts.

The president is taking FAR too advice from the pukes in the Department of State for my liking.
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

That excerpt  says it all...and I agree with Bolton.

Right now its Rand Paul that has his ear on this stuff...worse than the State Department IMHO.

I don't think a military strike against Iran was a good idea, but overall, I think Bolton was right about 'most everything and he gave good advice.  Just too bad Trump didn't listen to him.

Wonder if Trump will listen to the new guy.

Great leaders hardly need a posse of advisers, as they are wise at their core.
Trump's first and only impulse is to run off at the mouth; never to listen and reflect.
As such he will never be conflated w/the wise leaders of history.

Bolton is right.  And now Trump is having a spat with Lindsey Graham over Iran.
AG William Barr: "I'm recused from that matter because one of the law firms that represented Epstein long ago was a firm that I subsequently joined for a period of time."

Alexander Acosta Labor Secretary resigned under pressure concerning his "sweetheart deal" with Jeffrey Epstein.  He was under consideration for AG after Sessions was removed, but was forced to resign instead.

Bolton unloads on Trump’s foreign policy

Well, this is your problem, John.  Like it or not this is the President's foreign policy.  If you don't like it, put on your big boy pants and run for President.  If you win, you can usher in the "Bolton foreign policy" (God help us).

Until such time, stop whining and accept that an "advisor" does not set policy.

Thank you for your service.  Now stop undermining the United States.

Remind me of the last time you posted anything resembling a deep thought on here?

Go ahead...I'll wait.

Your constant fire fighting and White Knighting for Trump doesn't count.

I am convinced that Trump doesn't have a foreign policy.  In fact, I don't think he has a set policy on anything.  His "policy" changes daily, maybe hourly.  Depends on who has his ear at any given moment.

Bolton knows his stuff.  Had Trump actually listened to him, we wouldn't have the chaos we have now.

@Applewood Exactly.

Now...get ready...accusations of "warmonger"..."neocon"...and "wanting to start a war with Iran" coming in 3...2...1...

Why, it almost sounds as though you didn’t think drooling sycophancy constitutes deep thinking.

Sweetie, I don't have to do fire fighting for the President or anyone else. But, I admit every now and then I will stop to mop up the NT flop sweat to make room for facts and truth.  Alas, it is a thankless job … but I consider it a privilege.

As for my posting deep thoughts.... well, take a gander over your head.  I'm sure you'll find them there.

Cheers  @txradioguy

As we age, hopefully we learn from experience, changing as necessary for our own good.
But never Trump, who is the same incorrigible 10 year old, now in his seventies.
Same attitude, same behavior, same frown/smirk, same blather and all the rest.
As days's become weeks then months, his Fan Club doubles then triples down in their
admiration as he can do no wrong 'cuz he's a stable genius'. Why of course he is!
In many ways his Fans resemble those fanatics consumed by idolatry and impervious to reality.
Sadly denial such as this always ends poorly as history attests.

It's a tremendously thankless job, especially here, but someone's got to do it @txradioguy and she plays her role very well.
No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.
