Air Force may have to adopt a “no bomber” strategy as B-1’s age out

FeaturedWIB air September 17, 2019 Andy Wolf 0

As the B-1B fleet nears retirement and the B-21 Raider seems further and further away from becoming a frontline reality, the Air Force may have to come up with a new bomber strategy for standoff operations.

With B-1 fleets currently running ragged with little to no spare parts, it’s a matter of time before the “Bones” can no longer take to the skies.

This, of course, is a real problem because its replacement, the B-21, is still grounded to the blueprint and build stage.

Strange they make no mention of the B-2 and B-52 in service...
