Thoughtful remarks which brings to mind a recent essay by Chris Caldwell in Claremont.
He asks why the British Government has, so far, not declared its independence from the
EU despite a formal promise to its citizens, that it would do so!
He concludes it is because opponents include the entirety of British Establishment Elites
who continually find ways to block it.
He further asserts that EU Law has been entrenched in the UK for the past half century
which has had the effect of empowering the Courts over Parliament, a very good outcome
for the rich, as the legal profession is credentialed by costly Law Schools.
As a result, the UK negotiators w/the EU saw their task as damage control rather than exit.
In sum, UK politics is in chaos because a corrupt an unprincipled elite, whose only allegiance
is to their wallets, is more determined and ruthless than the bewildered majority.
The British Empire, which emerged some 500 years past is now in accelerating decline,
yet it is unlikely we will heed this, much less understand how this happened.
Our fateful turn was our entry into the Great War, one of Europe's interminable conflicts,
since the 5th century Fall of Rome; AND NONE OF OUR GOD DAM BUSINESS!!!!!
That event internationalized our elites whose primary loyalties became increasingly outside
and decreasingly inside the USA and whose obvious effect was to confuse and weaken us
as a nation. The consequences should be obvious to anyone who can think!!!
