Rep. Bill Flores is the 5th Texas Republican to announce retirement

Rep. Bill Flores (R-Texas) announced Wednesday that he will not seek re-election in 2020, becoming the fifth Texas Republican — and the 15th Republican overall — to retire from the House this term.

The big picture:
House Republicans want to regain control of the chamber from Democrats in 2020, but the continued exodus of GOP members will make the task even more challenging. Texas, which hold 38 electoral college votes, is becoming a more competitive state for Democrats across all levels of government.

House GOP Texas seats up for grabs in 2020:

Bill is a very nice man, but has failed to maintain his conservative values.

Trump fatigue is my guess.   It gets more and more wearisome defending the man.

GOP Rep. Bill Flores announced Wednesday his plans to retire from Congress at the end of his term, becoming the fifth Texas Republican to do so this election cycle.

Flores won his first election in 2010 by defeating a Democrat during President Barack Obama's first midterm election and rose to become a chairman of the conservative Republican Study Committee.

LOL. The GOP hasn't exactly expended itself defending Trump.

Rush addressing this...Dems trying to turn Texas blue and the Repubs better wake up or it will be a repeat of 2016 losing more Congressional seats.

Meanwhile RBG drags her 86 year old tumor riddled body to work every day to deny Trump another SCOTUS pick.

The GOP is worthless.

Texas, which hold 38 electoral college votes, is becoming a more competitive state for Democrats across all levels of government.

Really?  Bill Flores won his seat by defeating an incumbent Democrat who had been in office 20 years.

Since that time,  here's a tally of Congressional seats in Texas

   R   D   Total
2010   23   13   36
2012   24   12   36
2014   25   11   36
2016   25   11   36
2018   23   13   36

A tally of Texas Senate
   R   D   Total
2010   19   12   31
2012   19   12   31
2014   20   11   31
2016   20   11   31
2018   19   12   31

A tally of Texas House
   R   D   Total
2010   99   51   150
2012   95   55   150
2014   98   52   150
2016   95   55   150
2018   83   67   150

I'll add that no Democrat has won a statewide election since 1994.

So where is the 'more competitive state for Democrats across all levels of government' coming from?

The only place in the past ten years where Dems made any headway at all is in the State Legislative House, and this was only last year.

Perhaps the article is talking about local elections.
