Brit Hume criticizes peace talks with Taliban: ‘This is called losing’
September 2, 2019 | Victor Rantala |

On Sunday, Fox News analyst Britt Hume disparaged the administration’s Afghanistan peace talks with the Taliban, claiming that if the U.S. pulled troops out from what has become America’s longest war, it would essentially be a defeat.

“This is called losing,” he said. “We completely, ultimately abandoned the situation over there partly because it’s unpopular and partly because it’s going on for so long.”

A deal is reportedly nearing after several rounds of talks between the U.S. and the Taliban that would potentially see about half of the American troops deployed there sent home, with troop levels to be brought down to about 8,600 military members. In return, the Taliban will be committed to renounce Al Qaeda and engage in talks with the current Afghan government.

In yesterday’s “Fox News Sunday” panel discussion, Chris Wallace pointed out that “there have been no discussions between the Taliban and the Afghan government.”

“The Afghan government is terrified of being left alone with this Taliban, which just yesterday attacked a big town in Afghanistan,” said U.S. envoy Zalmay Khalilzad.

No Brit, pining for the status quo in Afghanistan is insanity. It’s easy for you, because you don’t have any skin in the game.
You can avoid reality, but you cannot avoid the consequences of avoiding reality.

When Politicians took over 'War Making', we lost.
No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

Donald Trump's Afghanistan Peace Process 'Is Called Losing,' Fox News Analyst Says: 'We Completely Abandoned That Situation'

By David Brennan On 9/2/19 at 7:31 AM EDT

resident Donald Trump's administration is reportedly making significant progress in its efforts to bring the long-running war in Afghanistan to an end, with American and Taliban representatives now close to agreeing to begin full peace talks including the Afghan government.

The New York Times reported last week that negotiators were nearing a deal that is expected to set a timeline for the withdrawal of U.S. and NATO troops and to set up direct talks between the Taliban and Afghan officials over the future direction of the country.

"This is called losing," Hume said on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace, Mediaite reported. "We completely—ultimately abandoned that situation over there, partly because it's unpopular, partly because people are frustrated with it, partly because it's been going on so long. We are not likely to appreciate the results and the public won't either."
