Fall 2019 / winter 2020 football season thread
« on: September 02, 2019, 02:05:36 pm »
New season, new thread.

I know I started a few days late for college football but this past week was mostly pushover games anyway. As with last year... whatever league or level you want to talk, it's fine by me. NFL, college, even CFL... and as with last year, I'll keep it open through about April for those interested in the new XFL.

This is the OU game allover again.  Only difference is I'm not conflicted about who to cheer for this year.

Nice Buckeye victory today.

REALLY wanted Army to win this one...... but they made Michigan look good in spite of their squeaker, so it's still a good thing.

I thought that the Bearcats would’ve put up a bit more of a challenge....

The announcers said they are a better team than Ohio State made them look today.

I was impressed with the improvement over last week.  Nice balanced and dominating offense and defense today.

I like Fields a lot.

They (Bearcats) probably are....  I’m watching last week’s opponent get crushed by UCF at the moment....  I thought they hung in pretty well last week and put up late points...

Lately they have always come up with a QB that works well in the system....  and I think things will be fine with Coach Day, although I was sorry to see Urban move on....

I figured that Day would do great after seeing what he could do in the early games he coached last year, but of all the Buckeye coaches, I think Urban will always be my favorite.

Just a classy guy........ but a consummate competitor, which I loved.

The second half was weak last week, but today they were firing on all pistons.

I became an Urban Meyer fan back when he was with Utah.....  he was doing incredible things with the underprivileged youth out there....

However I will always love Coach Hayes!

Watched the Patriots-Steelers game last night. Wow, Pittsburgh looked completely unprepared, while Brady and the Pattycakes were sharp as ever. Brady's face seemed strangely smooth and tanned, though, like he'd been to Bruce Jenner's cosmetic surgeon.

I avoided that one completely....  knew what the outcome would be, can't stand the NBC crew, and didn't want to hear incessant chatter about AB....

If I'm ever forced to watch the Patriots play, I always keep it on mute.  I just can't handle the Brady worship team singing his praises.

But in the mean time........... watched the Browns thinking they might actually be a good team this year........    **nononono*

Yeah........... I actually think so too.  I think the new coach will keep them from kicking the opponents in the head in the future.

The Brownies had 182 yards in penalties!  Yikes. Mayfield is starting to look like Manziel II.

It was an embarrassment to say the least.

But Mayfield ain't gonna be no "Johnny Football."  He has more talent and has his act together much more.  Manziel was just a baby with shoulder pads on.  **nononono*

Watched Buffalo-Jets Sunday. Now that's what a defensive game should look like. Strong play on both sides, but just enough scoring that both teams remain in it throughout the game.

Avoided the Patriots game like the plague. I won't watch. It's kabuki at this point.

Well, the Buckeyes looked strong again today against the Hoosiers.  Nice Big 10 win.

I think this is going to be a fun season!

How can Notre Dame football players look at themselves in the mirror? Seriously, a season full of whipping boys, e.g., Little Sisters of the Poor, and one or two actual opponents - yet they're always ranked in the top 10. What a joke.

Hey, the Little Sisters of the Poor are tougher than they look.  happy77
