There are millions of principled members of the religious Right, whose beliefs, regardless of whether you agree with them or not, are undoubtedly sincere.

Then there’s grifters like Jerry Falwell Jr.

The Liberty University president touts himself as an ardent evangelical and serious man of faith. Yet in both his political activism and personal life, Falwell is a complete and utter hypocrite. The latest revelation into Falwell’s suspect character comes courtesy of an exclusive Reuters report probing the Christian leader’s shady operations with university assets.

Here’s what Reuters reported:

Around 2011, Falwell, president of Liberty University in Virginia, and his wife, Rebecca, began personal fitness training sessions with Benjamin Crosswhite, then a 23-year-old recent Liberty graduate. Now, after a series of university real estate transactions signed by Falwell, Crosswhite owns a sprawling 18-acre racquet sports and fitness facility on former Liberty property. Last year, a local bank approved a line of credit allowing Crosswhite’s business to borrow as much as $2 million against the property.

Am trying to come to grips what is the 'hypocrisy' here.

Apparently Liberty owned a struggling sports complex they were given and were operating and interested in disposing of.

In comes a known entity that has a background in sports training for a number of years and perhaps some business acumen, but likely little monetary resources.

Liberty arranges to sell him the place at terms.  One of those terms is that Liberty could make usage of the facility for free for a number of years.

This happens all the time so what's the deal?  If someone else was stiffed as a result, that would be a deal but I see no mention about it.

I see this as a shrewd way Liberty could get out of the sports complex situation and concentrate on its core mission of education, meanwhile turning the gift into a financial asset.

Methinks that somehow the Examiner is hinting to portray Falwell as a homosexual due to the 'close relationship'.

Falwell is a loyal shill for President Trump — all Christian ethics apparently overlooked in the evangelical leader’s political calculations. Yes, Falwell practically worships the same man that’s been divorced two times, is accused of cheating on the mother of his child with a porn star, and once boasted on tape of grabbing women's crotches without their consent.

Ummmm, no. That is not what Trump said. What Trump said could be interpreted that way, along with other equally plausible but different interpretations. That Polumbo presents his opinion of what Trump meant - or never checked out what Trump actually said - as fact is a detriment to his credibility. Taken together with his purple rhetoric, , I like pie.

Pelosi is the worst at this. Frequently, she turns into "Mother Teresa" while speaking, explaining to all of us 'stupid people' what God and Jesus want us to believe and to do. Amazingly, God and Jesus always happen to believe what Pelosi believes? What a coincidence!

I always laugh when these arrogant, supercilious, avowed atheist Leftist, go into Bible mode and attempt to explain scripture to the masses who are obviously too stupid to understand. It is literally funny how often this happens. It is the same when far-Left talking heads on CNN and MSNBC start preaching to Republicans what they 'must' do if they expect to win the next election. It's just stupid.

Indeed. In my state, a Republican member of the Legislature just was caught up in a prostitution investigation. He allegedly negotiated with a hooker for her service; I don't believe there's evidence he actually engaged in the acts with her. The state Democrat party is falling all over itself - clutching pearls - over his horrible immorality, screaming, "J'accuse!!" all over Twitter.

The MSM has a history of pretzellating the legal doings of Christian institutions into something shady or illegal. Back in the late 70s it was a Seattle paper claiming that a fund the Billy Graham organization had violated the law that non-profits must spend within a year every dollar they receive. What the paper didn't tell readers was that the fund was a long-term fund set aside for, IIRC, building a library at Wheaton College. Non-profits' long-term funds for a specific purpose are legal, but the "news"paper didn't mention that.

It sounds like Liberty sold a money-losing operation at a price that reflected the fact it was a money loser to someone with the abilities to grow the operation into profitability while retaining access to the facility. Nothing shady, but easily misrepresented by a MSM intent on getting people who dare support President Trump. It's kind of pathetic that Brad Polumbo fell for this dodge, but evidently his Never-Trumpism includes a very strong confirmation bias.
