White House: Trump 'looking at tax cuts again,' but economy going strong
By Naomi Jagoda - 08/20/19 01:03 PM EDT

White House spokesman Hogan Gidley said Tuesday that President Trump is looking at a new round tax cuts, but dismissed the idea that the administration is trying to counteract a looming economic slowdown.

In an interview on Fox News, Gidley argued that the economy is doing well and that discussions of tax cuts are about giving people back their money.

“What I can tell you is the same thing [White House economic adviser] Larry Kudlow said and the same thing that the president of the United States has said, that he’s looking at tax cuts again. We think that spurs on this economic expansion," Gildley said on “America’s Newsroom.”

He added that a payroll tax cut is "not being considered at this time, but he’s looking at all options out there to try and give people back so much fo the hard-earned money they’ve made."

How about 'spending cuts'?  Does Trump ever plan to look at those?  Our economy suffers because government (which produces no wealth) is sucking $2 trillion out of the economy each year which instead could be used as capital for business investment and growth.  If we balanced the budget, we would be seeing double-digit growth rates.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."

I remember when the tax tweak went through, we were told that his was the beginning and there would be more.  That was when?  2017?  Since then -- silence.

Now that the economy is shaky and Trump is looking to be re-elected, maybe he might go for more tax tweaks.  Where have he and Republicans been all this time?  Where were they when they still had the house?

This is gong to be the theme for next year:  Vote for us and we promise this time we will do what we promised you a few years ago.

Sorry.  but I'm tired of squandered opportunities and unfulfilled promises.

Trump wants to be re-elected, so he is making a lot of promises he knows will never be fulfilled.  His supporters will, of course, believe him, but most of the rest of us know that if he and the Republicans didn't keep their promises when they had the presidency and both houses of congress, they aren't going to keep those promises now.

And as for spending -- Trump and both parties have shown they really don't care about that.  If Trump did, why did he sign off on every spending spree bill that came across his desk?  Any noise Trump and the Republicans make about spending is just that -- noise.
