Why E-Verify didn’t work at poultry plants in Mississippi and how to fix it

Many conservatives (myself included at one point) believe E-Verify is the silver bullet in protecting jobs from being taken by illegal immigrants. Some states, including Mississippi, mandate its use for new hires. But as the ICE raids on poultry plants in Mississippi demonstrated, the system isn’t being used 100% of the time as mandated and when it’s used, it doesn’t always work.

There are loopholes illegal immigrants can use to circumvent the system. It doesn’t check on the legality of an individual, only whether or not their paperwork is acceptable. But if that paperwork is being shared or was taken from someone else, including the deceased, then the system won’t flag them. It should.

The reason 680 people were apprehended in a single day last week is because the E-Verify system isn’t foolproof and isn’t being used 100% of the time. This needs to be fixed immediately.

Sounds next to useless.

  • I don't believe in Trump anymore, he's an illusion
Um, isn't supposed to be addressed by I-9's? If these illegals were using false or someone else's ID Social Security should have flagged it and sent a letter/letters to the employer for resolution.............................unless the employer wasn't actually sending any information in to the government.

I know that when I was responsible for I-9's and the Social Security Administration sent a letter of notification we had to respond with clarification, either corrected information or notification the employee was terminated.

Did Obama file an I-9?

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

When companies don't care coupled with a government that that looks the other way, you get floods of this. Like overcrowded jails word has got out that the flood is working.
