A stunning number lands in the middle of the gun debate
« on: August 15, 2019, 10:10:37 pm »
(CNN) — As political Washington mulls what -- if anything -- to do legislatively to address the latest in a long line of mass murders committed with guns, a new Fox News poll has a number in it that is an absolute stunner.

That number is 67%, which reflects respondents who told pollsters that they support a ban on assault weapons. For you non-math majors out there, that's two-thirds of the American public!

https://www-m.cnn.com/2019/08/15/politics/assault-weapons-ban-fox-news-poll-gun-control/index.html?r=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cnn.com%2F

Direct link to actual poll. The specific question is number 37 on the 8th page.

CNN quoting FNC. I knew if I lived long enough.

I also notice they're slipping 'semiautomatics' quietly into the 'assault weapons' category. That ought to be fun.

That’s probably due to the fact that they were expecting an inverse of the bias CNN typically displays. It’s not really surprising, however. Murdoch owns Fox. Recently, the New York Post also ran an opinion piece on reinstating the ban. He owns that paper, too.

The vast majority of people who believe that the government has the right to regulate gun ownership by passing new laws ... have a poor understanding of our Constitution!

Most of the arguments about the Second Amendment ... made by both sides, revolve around a single assumption - that the Second Amendment grants a citizen the right to bear arms.

What both sides fail to understand is that the Second Amendment grants no such right, in fact, the Constitution grants no rights at all!

What the Constitution does do is identify what powers the people grant to the government.

This is the whole purpose of the Constitution - to tell the government what it can and cannot do, our Constitution is a limit on government.

That is why Marxists, Socialist, Progressive Democrats, et al. have such a disdain for our Constitution ...
It is a limitation on Government not a limitation on We The People.

The 2nd Amendment is a prohibition on government, it doesn't confer any rights on the citizenry.

So now Fox is getting into the fake news arena.

Create a poll geared towards the answer you want...then report on that poll like real news for the next week.

That folks is called a pseudo event.

The masses have been conditioned to believe a semi-automatic rifle is an assault weapon, or to say it technically, a scary black gun. Ignorance doesn't prevent them from wanting to take property from law-abiding citizens.

If they fail to put "rifle" at the end of "semi automatic"...suddenly my 1911 and a whole host of other pistols are open to regulation if the Dems get their way.

You are so correct about Fox and Every one of the talking heads on Fox and elsewhere!
Sadly, Not One of these people ... including Hannity, Tucker, Ingraham etc. etc. bother in trying to educate people on why the Constitution exists and Why there should be No laws enacted ... none, against guns or gun holders.

The politicians pass Illegal "Feel Good" laws for votes while the Talking Heads "Omit" simple little Constitutional facts because it keeps them employed!

We should be prosecuting criminals and the crimes that they commit ... not punishing Law-Abiding citizens!

Thank You!😁

Quote
An assault is the act of inflicting physical harm or unwanted physical contact upon a person or, in some specific legal definitions, a threat or attempt to commit such an action.

So, what is a non-assault weapon?  A non-weapon weapon?

That's clearly an assault tool.  Is it a weapon?

You won't be able to get an extended mag for that 1911.  All of the mags for my .45 M&P would be illegal.

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
