Former NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his family were involved in a nonfatal plane crash Thursday.
Earnhardt, his wife and and their child got away from the incident without serious injuries, Carter County, Tenn., Sheriff Dexter Lunceford told ABC News.
He added that Earnhardt was hospitalized, but the others on board were not. According to ABC, Earnhardt had suffered cuts and abrasions.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said in a statement that a Cessna Citation rolled off the end of the runway and caught fire after landing at Tennessee's Elizabethton Municipal Airport on Thursday afternoon, adding that two pilots and three passengers were aboard.
