Former Navy SEAL now Acting National Intelligence Director. A retired Vice Admiral has been appointed by President Trump to take on the role as national intelligence director. Joseph Maguire most recently was serving as the director of the National Counterterrorism Center. He takes over on August 15, 2019 with the departure of the current director Dan Coats. In addition, the deputy director of national intelligence, Sue Gordon, will also be leaving by mid-month.
