'Unfit': Trey Gowdy reacts to Peter Strzok's lawsuit
Washington Examiner, Aug 6, 2019

[...]

Fox News contributor and former top GOP investigator Gowdy responded to the news, saying Strzok was "unfit for law enforcement." Harping on Strzok's text messages with former FBI lawyer Lisa Page, which displayed an anti-Trump bias, Gowdy said Strzok was also "unfit" to have been included in the investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's emails and the Trump campaign's ties to Russia.

Strzok was fired from the FBI in August 2018 after being removed from former special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation. His complaint notes that FBI Assistant Director Candice Will recommended on Aug. 8, 2018, that Strzok be demoted and suspended for 60 days without pay, but FBI Deputy Director David Bowdich overruled that decision and the FBI fired Strzok the next day. Strzok now seeks reinstatement and back pay from the bureau.

Although Gowdy said Strzok has no one to blame other than himself for his texts, the former federal prosecutor said he is unsure how the lawsuit will pan out.

"How this is going to turn out, I don't know. It's D.C. I don't know what a jury is going to do with him," Gowdy said, adding that he is "sure" the FBI did not fire Strzok because of political pressure.
