U.S. Sen. Rand Paul recovering from surgery
WSPD NBC Local 6, Aug 5, 2019

KENTUCKY — U.S. Senator Rand Paul is recovering from surgery.

Paul posted on Twitter that he had part of his lung removed during a surgery over the weekend.

The lung was damaged in 2017 when his neighbor tackled him in his yard.

The surgery was done at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Paul says due to the surgery he will have to limit the activities he does in August.

He expects to return to the Senate in September.

Unfortunately, I will have to limit my August activities. Part of my lung damaged by the 2017 assault had to be removed by surgery this weekend. The doctors, nurses, & staff at Vanderbilt University Medical Center were great. I should be able to return to the Senate in September

In 2017, Paul was attacked by Rene Boucher, sustaining critical injuries including five rib fractures, three displaced fractures, and bruised lungs. Boucher pleaded guilty to assaulting a member of Congress.
