I learned this morning that a good friend of our pastor was killed yesterday in the shooting in El Paso.  Please pray for the First Baptist Church of El Paso.

With all the attention given to ‘send her back,’ this rally moment is bound to be dusted off, given recent events. It’s not complicity, but it has not aged well.

At one point, Trump lamented that there are too many immigrants crossing the border but not enough border patrol agents or weapons.

“How do we stop these people?” he asked, to which someone in the crowd yelled: “Shoot them!”

Trump smiled and replied: “Only in the Panhandle you can get away with that statement.”

El Paso shooting victim died protecting her 2-month-old newborn from gunfire
by Hunter Lovell
 | August 04, 2019 12:37 PM

A woman who was killed in Saturday's mass shooting in El Paso, Texas, shielded her 2-month-old baby from gunfire and thereby saved his life, the woman's sister told the Associated Press.

Jordan Anchondo, 25, was one of 20 people who died after a gunman opened fire at a Walmart in the Cielo Vista shopping mall. Anchondo was purchasing back-to-school supplies when the shooting began. Police said 26 others were injured in the attack.

Leta Jamrowski, Anchondo's sister, said her nephew suffered some broken bones, which were likely caused because his mother protected him.

"From the baby’s injuries, they said that more than likely my sister was trying to shield him," Jamrowski said. "So when she got shot she was holding him and she fell on him, so that’s why he broke some of his bones. So he pretty much lived because she gave her life."

Anchondo leaves behind three children.

Jamrowski also spent much of the hours after the shooting at the University Medical Center of El Paso anxiously awaiting the fate of her brother-in-law, Andre Anchondo.

"They said that if he were alive, more than likely he would have gotten in contact by now," Jamrowski said.

Thirteen people were treated at University Medical Center for injuries, including one person who later, died, according to spokesman Ryan Mielke. Two children were brought to El Paso Children's Hospital to be examined for wounds, and 11 other victims aged 35 to 82 were transported to Del Sol Medical Center, according to spokesman Victor Guerrero.

From the "manifesto":

"My death is likely inevitable. If I’m not killed bythe police, then I’ll probably be gunned down by one of the invaders. Capture in this case if far worse than dying during the shooting because I’ll get the death penalty anyway. Worse still is that I would live knowing that my family despises me. This is why I’m not going to surrender even if I run out of ammo. If I’m captured, it will be because I was subdued somehow..
My ideology has not changed for several years. My opinions on automation, immigration, and the rest predate Trump and his campaign for president. I putting this here because some people will blame the President or certain presidential candidates for the attack. This is not the case. I know that the media will probably call me a white supremacist anyway and blame Trump’s rhetoric."

After reading the entire document, I hope the authorities find the actual writer.

I wouldn’t read too much into that. Most of it is probably cobbled from things he’s read elsewhere. Besides, a lot of big talkers are nowhere near as brave as they think, once things happen.

Okay.

@Sanguine

Please note I changed the word "liked" to the word "lived" in my post. Should have been "lived" all along.

Many young boys have been prescribed ritalin simply because they couldn't concentrate in school.

No kidding. I have Asperger Syndrone,and would sometimes come home from school with my muscles in knots from  clenching them to stop them from moving. Not to mention clearing my throat over and over to keep from saying random stuff. At times this was serious,and at other times I forgot it existed. I finally figured out it only seemed to get bad when I got stressed,and that right there removed most of the stress.

I was one of those boys who daydreamed all the way through grades 1-12.

I did too,but mostly because I was bored out of my mind.

I might have been prescribed ritalin.

I honestly believe if my condition had been even SLIGHTLY worse back then that I would have been institutionalized and drugged into submission. I didn't even know there was such a thing as Asperger Syndrome until I was an adult,and by then it wasn't a problem because I had plenty of things to do to keep me busy and my mind occupied,and I wasn't sitting at a damn desk all day in a school room with no fans or air-conditioning.

They should do executions like they do in Japan,  they  don't announce the date.  They just show up in your cell and tell you, 'It's Time',  and then they don't publicly announce the execution until two weeks after the fact.

@dfwgator

Who says they can't do both?

I believe in the hardship created in El Paso and Dayton; but I am having difficulty in grasping all this, it's unbelievable really.

I don't know if this is true or not.

@Sanguine

I can understand how they can alter paperwork to make him a Republican instead of a Dim,but how can them make him an African-American multi-millionaire overnight?

Does that mean he is now a vic-tum instead of a perp?

I still think killings in the poor part of town and deaths from opioids are overwhelmingly more than these mass murder killings, of course, that doesn't matter to those politicizing this.  And, if it is to be believed, both of these individuals yesterday yes, have a depraved warped view of reality.

Have you read the entire manifesto? It's not cobbled together. It is written in a very organized manner with varied sentence structure and a vocabulary and syntax above that of the shooter. Authorities believe he posted it but the question remains: who wrote it. I hope they find out.

The shooter in Dayton killed his own sister!  8888crybaby

Along with the NRA, another favorite punching bag has been brought into the fray.

“How long are we going let, for example, and ignore at the federal level particularly, where they can do something about the video game industry,” Texas Lt. Gov Dan Patrick said Sunday on “Fox & Friends,” condemning the attack as “evil.”

[snip]

“We’ve always had guns. We’ve always had evil. But what’s changed where we see this rash of shooting?” he continued, calling violent video games “the common denominator.”

Video games are potentially more at fault than the NRA is, along with movies that glorify revenge violence in soft-porn terms.

No one is at fault, except for the shooter. He has conveniently pulled from various sources to justify his lack of reasoning skills impulse control.

You’re giving that group way too much credit. They don’t demonstrate anywhere near that level of forward thinking or organization.
