A record-breaking summer cold front had central Canadians searching for an extra blanket Sunday-thru-Monday, as Arctic air rode anomalously far south on the back of an historically wavy jet stream.

The mercury plunged more than 12C below-average overnight Sunday, setting new record lows across central Canada in books often dating back to the late 1800s/early 1900s.

Global News Meteorologist Peter Quinlan Tweeted a few of the new low temperature records:


Even NASA agrees, in part at least, with their recent Solar Cycle 25 prediction revealing it will be “the weakest of the past 200 years” (www.nasa.gov):
