Houston Chronicle by  Greg Morago July 24, 2019

Chopped brisket taco at The Pit Room which on July 24
is hosting a pop-up for its new Tex-Mex venture, Candente.

Barbecue fans who have been waiting patiently for The Pit Room's next smoky move can get a preview today when the popular 'cue joint hosts a pop-up of Candente at The Patio at the Pit Room, 1201 Richmond Ave.

The owners, who hope to open a Tex-Mex restaurant using the Pit Room's superlative barbecue, are taking National Tequila Day (July 24) as an opportunity to show off what's coming with Candente, expected to open in August at 4306 Yoakum (at Richmond), the space formerly occupied by the shuttered Cane Rosso. Sambrooks Management Company, which owns The Pit Room, 1751 Sea and Bar, and Sam's Fried Chicken & Donuts, announced in January it would take over the Cane Rosso space for a new Tex-Mex restaurant, Candente.
