Mo Brooks Leads Successful House Floor Fight That Defeats Open-Borders Bill for Venezuelans
July 24, 2019

Washington, DC— Tuesday evening on the House floor, Congressman Mo Brooks (AL-05) led the fight against H.R. 549, a Socialist Democrat “open-borders” bill that gives hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions, of Venezuelans special eligibility to enter into and stay in the United States. Congressman Brooks stressed the irony of Democrats seeking to grant amnesty to illegal aliens fleeing a country economically destroyed by the very evils of Socialism Democrats seek to force on Americans. Congressman Brooks emphasized that, in any event, America’s dangerous $22 trillion debt coupled with unsustainable deficits make it financially imprudent for America to be the world’s orphanage for millions of children and adults America lacks the money to care for.

Congressman Brooks’ efforts were successful. H.R. 549 was killed on a House floor suspension of the rules vote.

Good for Brooks,  it's kind of surprising to see this not pass the Dem majority house.

I don't know, some have said the Venezuelans might vote Republican like the Cubans have for the most part (or did some time ago). Citizen should not be given, perhaps some temporary statuses.
