If the DEMS win, we WILL become another Germany or France;

We will anyway if pubs are the same as dems. Finding salvation in people who do nothing to halt the trillions in debt that is ongoing regardless of who is in power is, to be kind, misbegotten.

Ah.......................the Great Awakening and very long overdue!!!!!
A wise Roman asked, "Is it better the Prince be feared or loved???"
We know the answer and it's the reason Trump has achieved NOTHING!
He literally rolls out of the WH daily and what does he instantly do ???
Why head for the cameras and microphones laced w/people whose
driving ambition is to urinate on and embarrass him; as their have zero
respect for, but infinitely more importantly, absolutely no fear of him.
It is the same w/the Chinese, the Koreans, the Iranians, the Venezuelans,
the Mexicans, the Congress and all the rest; as he is a noisy and
non-serious buffoon. If R's want to survive getting rid of him is Priority #1.

I have no desire to engage in a p*ssing contest, and you may be correct about the Koreans, Mexicans, etc, but I am lucky to have some insight into Chinese opinion journalism, and while they may despise Trump a good chunk seem to have a great deal of respect for him. Some even have caught on to the fact the US media is not being honest with their reporting on him.

It's really not that hard to imagine since they so easily rolled his predecessors for so long, yet they don't seem to be having much luck with him.

Well, for me, it's not a matter of giving them another chance as the GOP held the majority for 4 straight years, it's a matter of taking a stand against the progressive left. Like Trump or not, he IS standing between them taking the oval office.  No one else is stepping up to the plate to challenge him.  So, it's either him or a bat crap crazy DEM.

As for 2024, I think the GOP is absolutely, unequivocally, royally screwed!

The GOP might be screwed before then.  For example, Trump will have his diehard supports and those who will vote for him only to "save us" from the Democrat nominee.  But I really think he is going to need the undecideds and the independents to win and I'm not sure he has them.

And for the Republicans in the senate -- I don't know.   I expect some who will vote for Trump might not necessarily vote Republican in senate races.  Part of that is Trump's own attitude toward his own party.  He has blamed other Republicans so much  and so often for what has been his failures and theirs that unless he directs his supporters otherwise, they might decide to "drain the swamp" themselves.

  • Didn't vote for McCain Dole Romney Trump !
There was one person I saw on Trump's team that was fighting the good fight against illegal immigration... and Trump fired him... then mocked him for his accent....

Have you looked at the Dem field?  Not a lot for independents to get excited about, save maybe voting against them.

The money has been spent @Hoodat  That's the problem we're facing (and I use "we're" loosely).

@Right_in_Virginia

So what was the $6+ trillion earmark spent on since it clearly wasn't spent on constructing a wall?

And I take it back.  Replacing old WWII fencing like this at or around/near the port of entries is probably the first priority.

Some of us here back in 2016 said building a wall across the entire border of Mexico is impossible, and someone filmed a helicopter flight of the entire border to show us why. Mountain ranges, rivers, switch backs, and  private property that certainly would be disputed in court. And that is why I said back then it was a mistake for him to run on that promise, and that it would be big, beautiful, and Mexico was going to pay for it. We were called fools at best, traitors at worst by our own party member dawning those red Maga hats.
Trump should have made securing the border a top campaign promise, but go with a all of the above approach to it. Walls were it makes since, increased border patrols where a wall simply is not the answer.

After roughly 4 years of this discussion, the other side has convinced me and I'm changing my mind on the matter.

Great.  So we're done then, and we can all finally let it be.

True.  But they could write in someone, vote third party or stay home.

they also could have enforced our immigration laws, send back those here illegally and put an end to sanctuary cities.

It is indeed a Great Day for the Internet.
No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

In 1968 Richard Nixon ran saying he had a "secret plan," to end the Vietnam War.

That meant a lot to me, since I got my draft letter between election day, and inauguration day.

Four years later in Nov. 1972 Nixon had not ended the war. But he was reelected with 49 states.

* a bit of history for those of you bitching that the wall isn't finished.

Guess what? In 1884 Reagan was reelected with 49 states.

While Nixon had not ended the war by the '72 election, he had made tremendous strides towards that goal.  Four years of troop reduction while at the same time taking the war to the North (something Johnson never did) brought North Vietnam to the negotiating table.  The following year, a peace agreement was signed, and the last US troops were evacuated.

The war was lost two years later when Congressional Democrats refused to honor our part of the agreement to South Vietnam.

It gave voice to Perot, which cost him the election.  He deserved to lose, but did we deserve Clinton?
At least the Republican Congress was able to keep Clinton in check.

True dat.  People would ask me if I liked even one thing Clinton did, and I always said "Sure, he gave us a Republican House after 40 years of Rat rule."
