Trump has not built a single mile of new border fence after 30 months in office
by Anna Giaritelli
 | July 20, 2019 12:00 AM

SAN DIEGO, California — The Trump administration has not installed a single mile of new wall in a previously fenceless part of the U.S.-Mexico border in the 30 months since President Trump assumed office, despite his campaign promise to construct a “big beautiful wall.”

In a statement last week, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the federal agency overseeing border barrier construction, confirmed that all the fencing completed since Trump took office is "in place of dilapidated designs" because the existing fence was in need of replacement.

The agency said that it had built 51 miles of steel bollard fence with funding that was set aside during fiscal 2017 and 2018. But while the funding was meant both to replace outdated walls and to place barriers where there previously had been none, the government has only completed the replacement projects. The projects to secure areas with no fence are still in the works.

The 50 miles of completed replacement barrier is a 10-mile gain since early April. In Trump’s two and a half years in office, his administration has installed an average 1.7 miles of barrier per month, and none of it in areas that did not previously have some sort of barrier. A total 205 miles of new and replacement barrier has been funded in the two and a half years since Trump took office.

Good grief, people.  Not only has Congress said no money for the wall construction, judges are going ape crap crazy stopping every alternate funding route the President has attempted.

Judge blocks Trump from using billions in military funds for border wall
The Hill, Jacqueline Thomsen  - 06/28/19

A federal judge on Friday issued a ruling blocking the Trump administration from tapping billions of dollars in military funds to construct a wall on the United States's southern border.

U.S. District Judge Haywood Gilliam issued the permanent injunction in a California federal court after initially ruling last month to temporarily halt the administration’s use of military funds for the border wall.

President Trump declared a national emergency earlier this year in order to divert roughly $6 billion in Defense Department funds toward border wall construction. Friday's ruling blocks the administration from using $2.5 billion in military funds for a border wall.

The injunction halts border wall construction at different sites in New Mexico, California, Arizona and Texas, expanding Gilliam's previous ruling.

Unfortunately.... a wall isn't going to solve our immigration invasion problems.   Our laws need to be changed, since the gdamned Democrats have schooled the invaders on how to come here and take advantage of the loopholes in those sucky laws... even while refusing to "fix" the problems.  The Democrats proving every day in every way that they truly are America's enemy within.

Great point about Congress ... but I think the wall is a valuable tool in our control of illegal immigration and drug trafficking --- which is why the Socialist-Democrats continue to block the funding.

Oh, no doubt that it will be a great tool to hinder illegals.... and has already worked in places where border fencing/walls had already been constructed in the past.  But right now... it's our stupid laws that need to be changed to fix the current problem.

What I can't figure out is.... why the hell has ANY funding been concentrated on erecting 'replacing' fencing where fencing already existed?  Makes no sense.   That money should have been used to start 'new' fencing/wall construction.   Once the new fencing/walls are constructed... then you could focus on replacing old existing fences/walls.  Nothing makes sense to me any more, though...(almost getting used to it).

Maybe Trump the fascist dictator could use the military to arrest congress for y’all? How about that?

Would you like that?

(Oh, that pesky constitution!)

Didn't realize Trump was so impotent.  Maybe we should get a President who really is a badass and who won't hesitate to spend the $6+ billion that has already been appropriated.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."

The money has been spent @Hoodat  That's the problem we're facing (and I use "we're" loosely).

But, hey!  You finally got to use the word "impotent".  Good for YOU!

Another promise Trump couldn't  or wouldn't fulfill.

Actually, I was never a fan of the wall.  I just wanted our government to enforce the laws and if necessary, pass new ones.  But that's not going to happen.

I always knew the wall was secondary to fixing our screwed up immigration laws.   And no, that's not going to happen now that the rats have control of da money and of da fixin.

What really matters....

is that the same idiots that sat back and enabled the rats to take over the House and spending in 2018....

are... as we speak... bleating the same crap they bleated before.

The very same idiots that will, no doubt, hand the reigns and control of this country over to the radical leftist DemocRATS in 2020... gleefully.  And then they will, of course...

blame Trump!

Another great time to point out how absolutely insane this messianic faith is that so many have in one man. Tumpy can't change a dang thing and never was going to be able to, that is, if he actually wanted to in the first place.

Understand that this was DOOMED TO FAIL, all the way along.
Pragmatism has brought us a party full of RINOs and a liberal president.

The only thing that WILL WORK is a rigid alignment behind Conservative principles, and an absolute insistence that our representatives serve that cause without fail - Or be thrown out. And with the very same rigid adherence to conservative principles in electing fresh stock... Stop being stupid and voting these sumbitches in in the first place.

When you have a congress full of Conservatives, and a president who is true blue, THAT is when you will find your dreams will come true.

Too bad no one could see that coming...  *****rollingeyes*****

Right-to-lifers continue to be enthused about Trump.

That's the conservatism that's good enough for me, speak for yourself if your weak arguments are about calling other's names because you abandoned that principle.

Good grief people.  Trump promised HE would get a great big beautiful wall built.

Which means he either lied to us, or he’s an incompetent fool who promised what he did not have the skills to obtain.

Steer or queer.  Take your pick.
