Schumer leading Democratic trip to inspect border facility

Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) will lead a group of roughly a dozen Senate Democrats on a trip Friday to the U.S.-Mexico border to inspect migrant detention facilities.

"This weekend, I am leading a visit to the border with a number of my Democratic colleagues to investigate, inspect and evaluate the latest conditions at these facilities," Schumer said from the Senate floor on Thursday.


Conditions at migrant facilities along the border have jumped into the national spotlight after the Department of Homeland Security's inspector general released a report earlier this month that found "dangerous overcrowding" and "prolonged detention of children and adults" at facilities in the Rio Grande Valley.

Schumer will grandstand in front of the camera about how awful the conditions are at these facilities, and then will block any funds to improve them.

Since they lost their effort to hinder the detention centers through lack of funding, are the Dems noy trying to hinder the centers' operation through continual VIP tours? Sheesh! Set up CSPAN cameras and be done with it for heaven's sake!

Well, this could go either way; either Schumer is going to find deplorable conditions and chastise Trump for doing such a crap job at the border and the DEMS will save the day and take credit for securing the border.  Or, he will find deplorable conditions and push for giving refugee status to all.
