Nervous about layoffs? It seems to me they should more nervous about the Communist News Network closing.
@rangerrebew The Communist News Network is not going anywhere. They have the foreign markets locked up as "THE American News Network",and pull in enough money from them they don't really need the US news market as anything other than a base.
It WOULD be beyond embarrassing for them to have to explain to foreign markets why they shut down in the US,though.
And if you think they lie about the news here in the US,you should see what they do in foreign countries. I watched them cover the first Russian elections on both a big screen tv and by looking out the glass doors of the Hotel I was staying in while in Moscow, and it was so obvious they were lying it was unbelievable. Keep in mind that I had Russians standing around me translating what the candidates were saying.
ONE example that comes to mind was the Communist Party Candidates were broadcasting across Russian tv stations to all of Russia, and CNN was reporting the Moscow police and the military standing around the truck was proof the Russian military was backing the communists, and the TRUTH was they were there to protect them from the crowd. Even if you didn't speak Russian,it was clear the crowd was mostly hostile. The one exception to this was a "party pit" right in front of the truck filled with dedicated communists,as well as priests and nuns waving the flag of the Russian Orthodox Church. I could glance up at the tv and see that these were the only section of the crowd at Red Square that supported the commies. Everybody else was hostile.
I actually got a bunch of cheers and offers to buy me drinks when I made the statement "Give me a M-60 machine gun and a few ammo bearers, and I can clear this little problem up for you in just a few mintues."
BTW,the Russian Orthodox Church was there because the commies promised to make them the official religion of Russia, and run every other religion out of the country if they were elected. LOTS of Protestant Evangelistic groups were going there at the time to open new churches, and the RO Church was NOT happy about having competition.
