A Snapchat video shows a girl licking a wooden tongue depressor in a Jacksonville doctor’s office, then putting it back in the jar.
Now that girl’s 30-year-old mother is dealing with a charge of tampering with a consumer product without regard for possible bodily injury after the video went viral.
Cori E. Ward was in an examination room at the All About Kids and Families Medical Center on Fort Caroline Road about noon Tuesday with her 10-year-old daughter when the video was shot, her Thursday arrest report said. While waiting to be seen by staff, the video was taken. It shows a hand taking the top off the tongue depressor jar, then grabbing one. Then the video, with the girl’s face blurred out, apparently licked the wooden depressor before putting it back in and replacing the top.
The medical center confirmed the girl was a patient to Times-Union news partner First Coast News. It also released a statement calling this an isolated incident and saying all materials had been removed from that exam room, which was also sanitized.
