Fearless prediction:
The Supreme Court, as currently constituted, is not going to overturn Roe v. Wade.

If a case offering the potential to do so comes before it, Roberts and possibly Kavanaugh will vote with the leftists.

That's how I see it.

I would not bet against you, Fishrr.

Nor would I.

Stare decisis, the doctrine that precedent should be respected and confirmed, maintains consistency in law, which is important.  But when raised to an end in itself, it causes the courts to pay more respect to their own prior opinions than to law itself   *Law* is the product of the *people* acting through a legislature, or less commonly, a convention; it is not the product of the court.

Tell that to an attorney.  They'd be out of business if there wasn't a byzantine structure of precedents burying the written laws as passed by the Legislature.

I agree.  The legal profession itself has done more to create contempt for law than any criminal conspiracy or gang of common thieves.  They have created, and they maintain, a priesthood which asserts the right to redefine common language in order to distort ordered liberty among a (formerly) free people.

When appointed oracles must be consulted to determine the meaning of words which are, in other contexts, inarguably clear, the days of the republic are numbered.

Very profound @HoustonSam.  And sadly, oh so true.

It's funny how stare decisis only seems to apply when it comes to decisions that liberals like.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

Where is our Martin Luther, nailing the theses to the courthouse door, arguing the ability of the common man to read and interpret the documents, and proclaiming, not sola scriptura, but sola lex?

Yeah.  @HoustonSam really nails it, as he usually does.  Post of the day.  People in law, like lawyers and Judges, have no clue it is their own actions causing the loss of respect for the law.  They built this.

Props, Sam! 888high58888

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
