Senate passes $4.5 billion border bill, setting up fight with House
By Jordain Carney - 06/26/19 03:33 PM EDT

The Senate on Wednesday passed legislation to give President Trump billions of dollars in new border funding, setting up a clash with House Democrats, who passed their own version of the bill earlier this week.

Senators voted 84-8 on their $4.5 billion bill, which includes nearly $3 billion in humanitarian aid.

Lawmakers had hoped to get a bill to Trump’s desk before they leave for the July 4th recess, but without an 11th hour agreement, prospects for resolving differences between the Senate and House bills are likely stalled until after the break.

Though the House and Senate largely align on the top line figure for their border bill, they are divided over several hot button policy issues including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Senate Republicans indicated Wednesday that they are hoping to jam House Democrats into accepting their bill, despite political and policy differences.

Congress is working hard to pass, not one but, two bills that will never become law.  I expect all of them to include their vote for border protection in their next election ads.

Who's responsible for those two dead bodies that are being used to bolster a purely emotional argument?  It's a bit of a trick question.

I could post something terribly inappropriate about how landowners can keep bodies from drifting up on their rivershore, but I'll refrain. Besides, it'd probably violate some CoE rule somewhere.

Not trying to swim across something you can't, well, that's a good start to not end up floating face down.

Not breaking the law to try to swim across something you can't, well, that might work, too.

If I seem crass, it's because someone 2000 miles away is being blamed for actions of people he has no control over, especially when they end up dead. There are folks roughly the same distance away who can do something, like deter people from coming here, but they are so busy sniping at each other, they'll be buried in mounds of immigrant poo before they do something, which they could have done a couple of years ago.

Instead, it's the annual caravan season, only beaten in numbers by Bikers to Sturgis or Daytona and the Hadj.

Quote
The family traveled north to Mexico, where they stayed for two months in scorching heat -- temperatures climbed to 113 degrees Fahrenheit at times, La Jornada reported. The victim's wife said they had obtained a humanitarian visa from the Mexican government.

By Sunday, Martinez and his family decided to cross the river out of desperation about 400 meters (437 yards) away from the Puerta México international bridge in Matamoros. De Luc told CNN en Español the family arrived at the bridge Sunday planning to seek asylum, but they were told it was closed and they would have to return the following day.

Ports of entry along the border have long been overwhelmed by the surging asylum claims, Customs and Border Protection officials have said. But US policies that make it harder for those seeking asylum to turn themselves in at ports of entry are pushing more migrants to take deadly risks and cross in more dangerous areas, advocates have said, warning the number of deaths at the border will increase.
Turnbacks and long waits also often push asylum seekers into crossing the border illegally, according to a September report by the Homeland Security's Office of Inspector General.

In Matamoros alone, more than 2,000 migrants had been waiting at the end of May "in conditions of hunger and overcrowding" to seek asylum at ports where, according to La Jornada, US agents granted an average of three appointments per week.

They should have waited until they starved slowly.

Well, heck, they didn't have to walk all that way to do that, they could have done it right back at home.

How fulfilling, to travel all that way to drown in a river and be used as a faceless poster child by the idiot open borders people.

What happened to the idea that exporting your national malaise won't necessarily make anything better for anyone?

The truth is, it's a damned shame. Some arsewipe somewhere sold these people on the old 'streets paved with gold' bit, and sent them north to make their fortune, or go on welfare, or something, but promised them better.

It's like one of those hundred acre ranch deals, low money down....

Not only did some toad (likely liberal Democrat/Global Socialist or some SOB supported by them) sell these people on going up north, (likely knowing it's be a cluster>bleep<, because that's what the liberal toads want, have worked hard for, and continue to keep going), but despite the specter of serious disappointment, these folks paid with their lives.

What a waste, unless you want to make political points with the image of their dead bodies--which is what people will do. Unfortunately, they won't place the blame on those who keep the whole invasion going, only on those defending the parapets.

According to the article, the Senate bill won't pass the House and the WH has vowed to veto the House bill.

So ...... if past actions are any indication...I'm betting that the WH caves.   We now have pictures of two dead in the water .... the uninformed Joe citizen, will be angry that the WH is doing anything to help the ILLEGALS.

Who's responsible for those two dead bodies that are being used to bolster a purely emotional argument?  It's a bit of a trick question.

Andrew Willow dissected that picture on his show today. Something is off. Was the photographer alone when he found the bodies? Did he check for vital signs or just snap away? Did Border Patrol find the body and let the photographer shoot before they checked for signs of life? The bodies are not bloated.

There is something strange about how this photograph was taken, IMO.
Principles matter. Words matter.

Are they dead?  They aren't bloated floaters.  Their faces are not in the water.  Could be

They should have waited until they starved slowly.

I said it was a trick question, you should have noticed that because you fell for it.

The responsibility for the two dead bodies lies with the corpse on the left.  He's the one who chose to drag his daughter into the fast flowing river.  Not Trump's fault.

And the George Soros funded assholes who lured him to it.

Even they carry only a secondary responsibility for the deaths.  None of them forced the irresponsible father to drag his baby into a fast moving river.

And that’s why the ONLY cogent response to this is: “The tragic loss of these two people is exactly why we need a full wall along our southern border to eliminate the possibility of more people like this trying to cross our border at anywhere but the legal points of entry.

Correct, and it's infuriating nobody, but nobody will ever blame a dead guy for killing his daughter.  If the President tweets about this the Rats, including the press, will lose their collective shit.
