Alan Dershowitz: Dems will regret calling Mueller to testify, are 'shooting themselves in foot'

Democrats will regret issuing a subpoena to former Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who agreed to testify later this summer, according to Alan Dershowitz.

Mueller cannot refuse to answer questions from Republicans not covered by "privilege," Dershowitz claimed on Fox News' "The Ingraham Angle."

"I'm trying to stop them from shooting themselves in the foot," he said.

The law professor reacted to a statement by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y. -- who, along with House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., issued the subpoenas for Mueller to appear before both panels.

Nadler wants to use the hearing with Mueller to keep the news "fresh"
The republicans want to use the hearing to bolster their evidence of illegal activities, such as how the Mueller investigation was initiated and the possibility of illegal information gathering.

One is yet another tired PR stunt, the other has teeth. Dershowitz is right.

Waddler will do everything he can to prevent Republicans from doing that.  I expect he will put the information gathering questions off limits.

Dershowitz was right, but for the wrong reason.

Democrats did shoot themselves in the foot.

But not because of the questions Mueller would answer from republicans,
but because Mueller couldn't hear or understand the questions in the first place.

His testimony would have been a lot more persuasive had he read the report he claimed authorship of in the first place.  He clearly did not do so.
