Why Is Illinois Hemorrhaging Residents?

CHICAGO — It’s known here as The Exodus.

People are leaving Illinois in droves. Republicans blame the state’s high taxes and its unfunded pension liability, which tops $130 billion. Democrats believe it’s the state’s lack of investment in education and infrastructure.

One thing is certain: Illinois’ population has declined by 157,000 residents over the past five years, making it one of only two states — West Virginia is the other — to lose people over the past decade.

Illinois’ predicament is a perfect storm of declining manufacturing, stagnant immigration, declining birth rates, young people leaving for college and never coming back, long-standing economic discrimination against black residents, high housing costs, and the continued draw of residents to the Sun Belt.

I imagine the reason to flee is the same for all leftist shithole states.

In a sense, both sets of reasons listed by the two parties hold.  They're leaving because the high taxes and pension liability are not leading to improved education and infrastructure.

Cook County.  Next question.

I do not know about Illinois.

In California, there is the big city thing, the sprawling good suburb thing, etc.

Big government talks endlessly about homeless, and about illegal immigrants.

Then raises taxes over and over, on people that see no benefit.

Sanctuary cities. Trains to nowhere. homeless encampmnts.

If the state is lucky they will have another Gov in prison. It is a long and fine IL tradition.  Something stinks about this Pritzger dude and it just isn't because he is a liberal Rat bastard

Draw a vertical line due south of Chicago.
Make it 30 miles long.

Now draw a horizontal line from the south end of the vertical line across Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio

Cut off the northern portions of those three states and make a NEW state, named "Lakeland" or something like that.

Run "a finger" north from the Toledo area up and around Detroit, and make that a part of the new state, too.

And don't forget to reach into the southwest end of Wisconsin. Take Madison, maybe Milwaukee too.

One big leftist state.
All we'll lose is two Senators more.

But we'll GAIN four states (IL, OH, MI, WI) that will become much, much "redder" as a result.

What say you?
