Group of wealthy Americans write open letter asking to be taxed more
By Marina Pitofsky - 06/24/19 09:00 AM EDT

A group of nearly 20 wealthy Americans on Monday released a letter asking for all 2020 presidential hopefuls to support a “moderate wealth tax” on the richest one-tenth of the richest one percent of Americans.

“America has a moral, ethical and economic responsibility to tax our wealth more. A wealth tax could help address the climate crisis, improve the economy, improve health outcomes, fairly create opportunity, and strengthen our democratic freedoms,” the letter says, as published by The New York Times.

“Instituting a wealth tax is in the interest of our republic,” it continues.

Sending a letter to the NYT...lol

You can pay more to the Gov anytime you wish just write a check to the IRS, if you were really serious you would have done this.

Cool. That should take care of the annual needs of the number of illegals that cross the border every month.

Just write the check already, posers.

Financial gifts can be made by check or money order payable to the United States Treasury and mailed to the address below.

Gifts to the United States
U.S. Department of the Treasury
Funds Management Branch
P.O. Box 1328
Parkersburg, WV 26106-1328

If they wanted to be taxed more, they would have already done this.  What they want is for "other people" to be taxed more.

Most, if not all, of these jackasses don't care what the income tax rate is because they pay little to none.
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

So these super rich mail in a large check. How large? The article doesn't say how much.
So these richie rich types believe simply giving more money to some fund will help those on the bottom?
I think they've already done a study showing that if they taxes the richest one percent a lot more, it would do little to help things.

"A  2012 report from the Tax Policy Center had basically similar findings. It estimated at the time that reducing debt to 60 percent of GDP by 2035 would require increasing the then-top two tax rates to over 100 percent."
The study found that the idea of extra taxes on the super rich would be  fruitless.

Maybe not, but they're not advocating for higher income tax rates.

Correctamundo.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."

-Ayn Rand-
