U.S. Rep. Dan Crenshaw has passed his first bill out of the U.S. House, and not surprisingly it’s related to the Department of Homeland Security.

The retired Navy SEAL and combat veteran has drilled down on issues related to the Department of Homeland Security since he took office in January. His bill would create a new review process for how the department manages contracts with vendors, particularly those costing taxpayers $300 million or more. Crenshaw, a Houston Republican, said he was disturbed by a government audit that showed the agency was named to a “high risk list” for waste, fraud and abuse based on its current practices.
