No one hunts with a AR15
« on: June 20, 2019, 12:05:44 pm »
GunBlog.OnLine 19 June 2019

The Anti-gun left like to use this as an argument to push yet another assault weapon ban, because the past few didn't work, why not try again?  The AR15 can not be used to hunt.  If you ask them why, you get many answers.

The AR15 is far too powerful to hunt with.  The large caliber .223 round is a military grade weapon that will destroy anything it hits.

Reality doesn't exactly fit that answer.  In fact, the .223 round is the same exact caliber as a .22lr, it's just a bit heavier and has a higher velocity.  The round is considered a varmint round and perfect for small to medium game, such as fox.  In fact, the .224 round is one of the smallest.

The standard AR15 caliber is the .223/5.56 round and is widely used for varmint control, such as coyotes, woodchucks, prairie dogs, and other small game.

No one needs a 30 round magazine.  If you can't take down your target in the first round, your aim sucks.

I have only 2 uppers for my AR15, both specifically selected for hunting; 6.5 Grendel and .358 Yeti.

If no one needs a 30 round magazine, then why do the police have them?

My AR is in 7.62x39.  I bought for hunting hogs.  The large magazine for killing as many as possible as they scatter.

The hogs destroy my pastures.

Here, they don't have 30 round magazines, they have 60 round mags.https://www.brownells.com/magazines/rifle-magazines/magazines/ar-15-60rd-pmag-d-60-223-5-56-prod75048.aspx

Belt-Fed is the way to go!

The MCR (Mission Configurable Rifle) will fit any AR15, M16, or M4 lower receiver. It’s chambered
for 5.56 x 45mm NATO rounds. It is compatible with all AR15 and M16 magazines as well as M27
linked ammunition–but maybe not at the same time.

Wait til they find out to their shock and horror how popular the 7.62mm (a.k.a. the Winchester .308) round is for hunting.

These people that make such stupid statements about the .223 and the AR's proves they only know what they've been told by the anti-gun left when it comes to civilian uses for the rifle and the round used in it.

The beauty of the AR platform is that you can get upper receivers for a host of calibers..

For example, https://www.cheaperthandirt.com/parts-and-accessories/parts-by-gun-model/ar-15/upper-assemblies/
