Actor Danny Glover to star in House Dems’ next production … on reparations

Democrats in Washington, D.C. understand well the power of pop culture and the impact celebrities can have on pushing for things like “restorative justice.”

In a hearing scheduled to coincide with Juneteenth, a day set aside to commemorate the emancipation of black people in the U.S., the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties announced it will “examine, through open and constructive discourse, the legacy of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade, its continuing impact on the community and the path to restorative justice.”

This being progressive code for reparations, of course — the irony here is that for a party that claims to be seeking progress, Democrats spend plenty of time looking in the rearview mirror.

On Wednesday, at 10:00 a.m., the hearing is set to get underway, with actor Danny Glover and writer Ta-Nehisi Coates scheduled to testify on the matter, according to NBCWashington.
