Support for impeachment grows to 27 percent: poll

Support for impeachment hearings for President Trump has increased to more than one-quarter of Americans, according to a new poll.
The NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll released Sunday found that 27 percent of Americans believe there is enough evidence to begin impeachment hearings for President Trump now, up 10 percentage points from last month.
The poll found that the increase largely comes from Democrats, 48 percent of whom now want impeachment hearings, compared to 30 percent last month. Just 6 percent of Republicans support holding impeachment hearings now, while 86 percent believe the president should be allowed to finish his term.

Researchers surveyed 1,000 adults between June 8 and 11, including 311 Democratic primary voters, for the new poll. The overall margin of error is 3.1 percentage points, while the margin among Democratic primary voters is 5.6 percentage points.
