An hilarious video has gone viral online of the attempts of two police officer in the US trying to rescue escaped turtles using a wooden crate and a police shield.

The intrepid officer’s whose day to day job entails fighting crime and dealing with bad guys are clearly terrified of the tiny motionless creatures and employ increasingly desperate measures to rescue them and take them to safety.

Here is a guy who played indoors. Never to venture to the
field. Never going to camp or a nature trail. Never to
stick his hand in a rat hole an pull out a pink newborn.

And the trick with snapping turtles is to continuously
switch hands. If you capture the turtle in one hand the
turtle will push with its legs and reach with its snout to
bite your fingers. Switch several times while walking to
the pond edge.

Did everything above as well as considerable fighting.
And I also enjoyed indoors, especially when mom was
baking.

They should send this officer to camp with children or
at least young adults in charge. Have him sweep the
floor, make his bed, swim, run, walk and shower at
night. He has been protected from living and it showsl.

If it still exists, I recommend Boy's Club Camp Big Silver
in Pinckney Michigan, Ten Days, $5.

I have "rescued" quite a few from roadways and pools.  I found the most important thing is once you have a hold on them, stop flinching and reacting to their snap that doesn't reach you.

We didn't have many snapping turtles in the bayou next to the house, but it was sure filled with soft shell turtles. With their long necks you had to make sure you picked them up at the very back of their shell.

The company I was working for was drilling a well next to a river.  I got the wonderful job of setting out several trot lines down the river to catch catfish for a fish fry we were hoping to have a few weeks later.  Twice a day I'd run the trot line and half the time there would be several soft shell turtles on it.  They'd hiss at you when you pulled them out of the water...nasty things.  I finally got some hedge clippers from the house and found an easy way to remove them from the hooks....lol.  Off with their heads!...lol.  I was never more sick of catfish in my life...
