Former White House chief of staff Reince Priebus was commissioned as an ensign in the U.S. Navy on Monday.

The commissioning ceremony, which was led by Vice President Mike Pence, attracted lawmakers from Priebus’ home state of Wisconsin and former White House press secretary Sean Spicer.

"It was an honor and privilege to attend @Reince’s naval commissioning ceremony this morning. Congratulations and thank you for your service Ensign Priebus!!!" Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., tweeted.

The Washington Post reported in December that Priebus had military ambitions and that a Navy review board “professionally recommended” Priebus to join the Navy through a direct-commission program for human resources officers.

Priebus, 47, obtained an age waiver to join the service because officers over 42 are barred from serving as an officer.

He left the White House in 2017 and was replaced by then-Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly.

I guess everybody needs a hobby,huh?

At least they didn't put him in charge of a aircraft carrier.

Lookit! He has only been in the Navy for 1 day,and already earned a good conduct medal!

Or I think it is a Good Conduct Medal,anyway. *I* never got one because I was robbed. ROBBED,I TELLS YA!

I'm not certain, but I don't believe that's a Good Conduct Medal

Officers are not eligible for Good Conduct Medals, and if Priebus truly was direct commissioned as an Ensign, he shouldn't have one.

I'm kind of weak on identifying a lot of medals, so I'm not sure what that is.

To be honest, he's a great get for the Navy.  The guy clearly has big-league organization skills, massive experience with the press....I mean, contrast his knowledge and experience with what you'd get out of your average Ensign.

For him...maybe it is just as simple as he thought he should serve his country, and wanted to wear the uniform.

I actually think it's kind of cool.

Since I can't imagine this affecting my life in any meaningful way, I guess I can agree it's kinda cool.   :cool:
