Misinformation swirling around Dutch teenager's death ignites debate over euthanasia

(CNN)At just 17-years-old, Dutch teenager Noa Pothoven had already written an award-winning memoir detailing her struggle with post-traumatic stress disorder, depression and anorexia in the wake of sexual assault and rape.

In her autobiography, Pothoven wrote that she had nothing left to live for.

At 16, she approached the Levenseinde, or "end-of-life," clinic in The Hague to inquire about euthanasia, but, according to an interview last year with local newspaper the Gelderlander, her request was rejected.

I'm sorry she went through these negative experiences. At least, it's good to know, apparently she was NOT euthanized by the state.

CNN seems more interested in protecting the reputation of the practice of euthanasia than they are finding out the details of the assault, which actually led to this girl’s death.

I mean, that’s the crux of the tragedy here.

Euthanasia advocates claim it is “compassion.” But it is really abandonment most foul.

A Dutch teenager, who was raped by two men when she was 14, will never live to adulthood or overcome the severe depression the attack caused. Instead, per the Washington Post:

    In what she termed a “sad last post” on Instagram, Noa Pothoven, 17, wrote Saturday that she would be dead within 10 days. But it had been “so long,” she added, since she had “really been alive.”

    It was unclear whether her death had come with the involvement of doctors, whose assistance she had at one point requested. A spokeswoman for a member of the Dutch parliament who had recently visited her told DutchNews.nl that she understood the death to be a result of the girl’s refusal to eat.

Most assuredly this situation will rear it's ugly head in this country where it's "compassionate" to euthanize someone with PTSD caused by a criminal but not the criminal him/herself.  But it still won't be "compassionate" to euthanize a mass murderer.  It will be "compassionate" to euthanize babies within a year after birth but not a terrorist.  Liberals, as usual, have it all wrong and act to defend perpetrators.
