After landing a production deal with Netflix last year, former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama are expanding their growing media empire to audio, producing podcasts for Spotify.

The music streaming platform announced Thursday that the Obamas have signed a multiyear partnership to create podcasts, which will be produced by a newly established audio division of their production company Higher Ground Productions, which began working with Netflix last year.

  • That is the problem with everything. They try and make it better without realizing the old is fine.

Barack and Michelle Obama Looking for Podcast Partners as Spotify Contract Ends
Simon Kent
4 Feb 20222

Former President Barack Obama, 60, and former First Lady Michelle, 58, are looking at new podcast deals with companies aside from their current partner Spotify, a report claimed Thursday, as the former first couple’s current three-year agreement runs out.

Three podcast industry sources told Insider the duo’s Higher Ground Audio company inked a multi-year deal with the music and podcast streaming giant back in June 2019, but sources say it can be a struggle getting the go-ahead for broadcast.

The agreement that bound the Obamas to Spotify was estimated by some industry observers to be in the ballpark of nine figures.

Moreover, the Obamas seek “young new voices” to air rather than carrying shows themselves, according to Vanity Fair, which first aired murmurs of the couple’s dissatisfaction.

The news comes as Spotify faces backlash over Joe Rogan, the most popular podcaster on the platform, over what his critics call coronavirus misinformation, as Breitbart News reported.

Under the existing deal, Obama has hosted the eight-episode podcast Renegades: Born in the USA alongside Bruce Springsteen. It premiered on April 5, 2021.

In July 2020, the Michelle Obama Podcast debuted with the former president as the first guest. The last episode was released on September 16 of that year. ...

Went into Barnes & Noble last week for the first time in at least a couple of years(yes, we still have one open here) to look for Levin's and Schweitzer's latest books.  They had none, and did not have a single book by O'Reilly either.

The shelves were literally littered with Obama books, though.

Asking a staff member, he said there was not much demand for the books I was looking for.

I told him he was a liar, politely, and that I would find what I was looking for online and will not be back again.

EXCLUSIVE: Trouble in paradise? Scowling Barack Obama inspects the construction of his new multimillion-dollar Hawaii mansion and controversial sea wall which his neighbors fear will erode the beachline

Construction appears to be well underway on Barack Obama's Hawaii beachfront compound
Obama was pictured speaking to builders and architects from a local island-based building firm
The former President did not look happy in photos snapped of him as he spoke with the construction crew
Obama could be seen with his arms folder and making pointed gestures before turning around to walk inside
His close friend and confidant Marty Nesbitt purchased property for $8.7 million in 2015
Previously, the site was home to the famous mansion from Magnum PI TV series which was torn down
In 2020 it was revealed how the buyer of the three-acre plot of land used a planning loophole to preserve a century-old sea wall on the beachfront, much to the annoyance of neighbors and environmentalists
Experts say such sea walls contribute to beach erosion and can damage the coastal environment

... The building of the enormous beachfront property where Obama plans to retire someday was purchased for $8.7 million by his close friend Marty Nesbitt in 2015.

The developers are currently building three homes on the site including two swimming pools and a security fence on the three-acre parcel of beachfront land. ...

But a century-old sea wall on the property is set to remain, despite state policies being introduced in recent years that were designed to preserve Hawaii’s natural coastlines.

Environmental experts say structures such as beach walls actually cause coastal damage and beach erosion.

Although the state of Hawaii has laws meant to preserve disappearing shorelines, beachfront property owners area able to bypass them.  ...

Obammy's so worried about global warming causing the seas to rise, he had to buy TWO oceanfront properties.
