Steven Crowder was just kicked off of YouTube, apparently because a Vox person complained about him.   He joins an ever longer list of anti-leftist voices being silenced there.

Correction: To my knowledge, Crowder is not 'kicked off', but he has been de-monitized, at least temporarily.
It is an interesting case - In the light of Google's $70B loss this quarter, largely blamed upon Youtube's algorithms, Youtube actually defended Crowder in part - refusing to kick him off the platform.

That is when Maza at VOX went after the advertisers.

Internet censorship will get even worse if the Republicans let corporations crap all over net neutrality for profit. We all need to be vigilant and fight this kind of thing, otherwise the greatest technology yet made will be perverted by the government and big business.

Most people don't actually understand this issue. Net neutrality is a good thing and has been the standard since the beginning of the internet. People interested in making lots of money want to destroy it and prioritize internet content, which will lead to more censorship.

Maybe so - But this issue in particular is not about net neutrality, lest we confuse other readers.

It is about corporate liberalism censoring that which does not agree with liberalism... Likely best demonstrated by what they did in unison against Alex Jones.

This is all about the 'platform vs. publisher' argument.

Net neutrality is simply the principle that ISPs should treat all internet communications equally and not discriminate or charge differently based on user, content, website, platform, application, type of equipment or method of communication.

If you're against net neutrality you are against the idea that content shouldn't be prioritized by ISPs for profit.

Yeah, you're right. I guess I just wanted to point out that in my opinion the left and right are both failing to fight for internet freedom in their own way. Both sides need to get with the program on this issue.

It has definitely turned a terrible corner...
I have always known our geek friends were largely liberal, but their one glorious principle, that 'information must be free', was something I thought could never be altered. That the internet community by and large is now allowing, even cheering censorship makes net neutrality a moot point.

We're not going to run out of internet. The internet will not be depleted, so I don't think a tragedy of the commons scenario can happen.
