Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) kicked off his first "grassroots" fundraiser of the 2020 election cycle with an introduction from a progressive megadonor who thinks the South has been "dumbing down" American politics and asked if we "could just let the South secede."

Sanders's fundraiser, which took place at the Mezzanine Night Club in San Francisco last weekend, attracted activist Cornel West, Ben and Jerry's founder Ben Cohen, and actor Danny Glover, the New York Times reported.

Guy Saperstein introduced Sanders at the "grassroots" fundraiser. A retired lawyer and wealthy California progressive megadonor, Saperstein is, the Times notes, the "kind of person who, in another context, Mr. Sanders might inveigh against." Saperstein attempted to nudge Elizabeth Warren into the 2016 presidential race and pledged $1 million to back her candidacy at the time....

What truth seeker said made perfect sense to me.

Demography is destiny.
And the demography of Texas ... well it doesn't look good at all.

How many white infants are being born, vis-a-vis "brown" ones to Hispanics, many of whom are illegals?

No, those infants can't vote today.
But they WILL vote tomorrow.
And when they do, the vast majority will NOT vote for the Republicans.

What does this portend for Texas' (and the country's) future?

A lot of Texan hispanics are conservative.  You think you're so damn smart you can judge a person's ideology by the shade of brown of their skin?  I think there's a name for that.

You can infer upon me whatever "name" you wish, I learned long ago not to care about such things.

But, yes, I WILL predict how Hispanics (particularly the children of illegals) are going to vote in the years to come. And my prediction is that it's not going to be "for the red side".

I realize in Texas there are a good number of "conservative" Hispanics. But even if 40% are that way, that means that 60% are NOT. And if the percentage holds, that means that the more "new brown voters" there are in Texas, the more democrat-communist votes there will be.

Demography -- it's just numbers. Can't argue with them.
They are... what they are.

And... to someone who's a realist, it doesn't look good for Texas in the decades ahead. I'll bet there are a good many Texas Republicans who just "go blind" when this subject is brought up.

Look what happened to New Mexico next door when it "turned brown" (that is, became the second state in which whites no longer compose a majority).
It has also turned pretty blue.

California was once solidly Republican. Orange County, a lock.


Gradually things changed. Last Nov. ALL House reps are Dems. 

To say the CA and OC GOP has become weaker and weaker is part of it.

When the USA is no longer the dominant world power who will fill the vacuum?

I think it's pretty clear we are sliding towards the same fate as the other western civilization countries. We have a declining birthrate. We are moving towards a socialist system. We are being over run by illegal immigrants who do not share our same culture, nor do they wish to assimilate into it. I see no area where I want to compromise with the Godless baby killing socialists, so leaving the USA to form a nation based on the Judeo-Christian values that were our guiding principals when this country was created is okay with me.
