Fix the asylum laws and the migrant crisis will be instantly solved

By Kerry Marasco  There’s been no shortage of proposed solutions to the migrant crisis. Build the wall. Increase border patrol personnel. Send them back to Mexico. Send them to sanctuary cities. Try the Highway 185 Solution. But when we look at the problem, many are missing the real cause. Instead of figuring out ways to stop them from getting across the border, we need to take away the incentive for them to try to cross in the first place.
The incentive is our asylum laws. Word has spread to Central America that if they can cross the border, get captured by border patrol agents, and apply for asylum, they’ll be released to the interior. Word has also spread that if a Democrat becomes President, they’ll likely get some form of amnesty that will allow them to stay permanently. These two incentives mean the masses of people breaching our borders will continue to increase. These facts are not even contested by most Democrats, though they’ll do everything they can to change the subject.
If we fix the asylum laws, we solve the crisis. Will people still cross over illegally? Absolutely. The overall problem won’t be solved. but today, we have masses of people coming over. And the vast majority of them never even show up for their asylum hearing.
