Chao sought government resources to arrange China travel for family members: report

Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao asked federal officials to organize travel arrangements for at least one family member and include other relatives in high-level meetings with Chinese government officials timed around her first scheduled visit to China as a Trump cabinet member, The New York Times reported on Sunday.

The reported arrangements were revealed as part of a Times investigation into close business ties between China and the Chao family's shipping company.

The original trip as Cabinet secretary was canceled and rescheduled for six months later, April 2018, due to a Cabinet meeting with President Trump, according to a Transportation Department spokesperson. However, ethics officials from both the State and Transportation Departments also became involved, according to The Times.

Alexander Acosta Labor Secretary resigned under pressure concerning his "sweetheart deal" with Jeffrey Epstein.  He was under consideration for AG after Sessions was removed, but was forced to resign instead.

I perused the NY Times article that is the basis for the article posted, fully understanding the inherent bias in the Old Gray Lady.

There was never a doubt in my ex-military mind why Trump appointed McConnell's wife to this Cabinet post. It was to coopt McConnell as the ultimate defense to an impeachment proceeding. It hasn't mattered a whit to Trump that McConnell didn't get Obamacare repealed, or rammed border security legislation through the Senate. It was enough that judges have been approved (yes, a good thing), and tax cut legislation was passed.

From her Wiki page, Ms. Chao has voiced regrets that she sometimes regrets not having children. I, for one, do not share those regrets. The only place for little turtles scurrying around is a pet store, not in the Halls of Congress.

I'm afraid the administration's current strong arm trade policy visa vi China will end up being the unspoken impetus for impeachment proceedings.
