Trump dismisses attempt by ‘abuser’ Mexico to negotiate tariffs
by John Gage
 | June 02, 2019 09:17 AM

President Trump Sunday derided Mexico's effort to negotiate away his threat to impose 5% tariffs, calling the nation an "abuser" of the United States and declaring, "America has had enough."

“People have been saying for years that we should talk to Mexico. The problem is that Mexico is an 'abuser' of the United States, taking but never giving. It has been this way for decades," Trump said on Twitter. "Either they stop the invasion of our Country, "[W]hich they can do very easily, or our many companies and jobs that have been foolishly allowed to move South of the Border, will be brought back into the United States through taxation (Tariffs). America has had enough!”

Mexico has reneged on promises too many times.  They don't negotiate in good faith.

Revisionist history. Spain claimed that land for 100's of years but other then a few settlement it was the
Comanche, Apache and other Indians that control it. Mexico won it's independence in 1821 Texas won it
independence in 1836 so Mexico claim on Texas is based on 15 years of "ownership" but the fact is Mexico could
not settle Texas. Mexico had to ask the Americans (Austin) to do that. Neither could Mexico settle it's other lands
that are now part of the USA. The US didn't steal half their country Mexico was unable to settle it so the US step
into the vacuum and settled it.

Spain has a better claim then Mexico

Thats right. Mexico couldn't handle the indigenous peoples nor did they have the means to make the land productive.

Once US settlers, whom they enticed by offering not only land but a promise of a representative government similar to the one they were leaving behind, had created value there the leaders in Mexico City decided they wanted it back.

Hmmm, it was part,  a major part in fact,  of his campaign.

Of course I'd rather the tens of thousands that have arrived here in the past two years not come, but being fair to Trump he has kind of had to follow a policy of gradual escalation. IMO he's done the best he could with the powers he has.

It's unrealistic to believe he could have slammed the door shut immediately upon taking office.

ONLY..the N.T'S or Lefts DON'T pay attention to the obstruction & resisting done by DEMON-RATS. HISPANIC JUDGES, & RINO'S...blocking his every move.  We had no DOJ for 2 years!  . We have a republic.  Why do people keep posting as if we have a DICTATOR?  (NOT TALKING ABOUT YOU)

You are correct. As if he should have been CLAIRVOYANT and KNOW every law getting into office.  He didn't even have his cabinet in, yet. People are so delusional.  (NOT YOU!).

Mexico is sending a big delegation to talk about the Border. Problem is, they’ve been “talking” for 25 years. We want action, not talk. They could solve the Border Crisis in one day if they so desired. Otherwise, our companies and jobs are coming back to the USA!

On the mark.
Spain (via Cortes) settled Aztec Mexico for 300 years, till 1821,
Catholicizing it but little else, as their tribal culture was too ingrained.
In contrast, Spain left our West to the Indian Tribes and has zero
valid claim on any land north of the Rio Grande.
Obrador is a lefty wind bag talking to Mexico's political hustlers.

Sure a few voted against the 'Emergency Powers' stuff because they didn't share your Love for Trump but the majority of those Senators voted on a Constitutional point of view.  In case your interested @LegalAmerican Trump, probably, still had Cruz's balls in a Jar on a shelf in the West Wing somewhere when this vote took place, otherwise, he would've voted against it also.

You keep spamming the threads with this list of 12 Senators, but it didn't matter at all how they voted as Trump vetoed that bill and that was the end of it.

IIRC, neither chamber attempted to over-ride his veto, so his emergency declaration stands.
